Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I need personal help. hi Theresa i realy enjoy your show.I am staying with my mom now and my kids to and my grandbabies as well.Its very weird because sence we all are together in the home we all seem to see people in the house.Its some thing that my daughter and i have always seen sence we both were very ypung.My mom said she has to.I want to know if there is some thing wrong with us or if are family that has past just trying to let us know there with us.
I was a single mom, raising three kids, I am proud of all three of them, even though they are so far away. I am by myself now and it gets really lonely. I am 60 now. My sweet daughter, Melanie, just had a double mastectomy and is now going through the expander’s process. She is only 39 and has a little boy ( my adorable grandson). He will be three on November 2. She wanted to have him on her father’s birthday, the 13th) Her father passed and missed the birth of her son and the surgery. He and her had some problems when she was 17, when she lived with him for awhile (we were divorced. They lost alot of time, not talking to one another and she regrets it so much and fears her father didn’t teally forgive her, before he died. She a huge fan and got me watching too. I would like to see if I can get some answers about my brothers murder? I was so close to him and struggle with the pain and emptiness everyday. Please help! I think about him daily and have thought about suicide just to be with him. I would never do this but think about it often cause I miss him so much.
My dad passed away May 9th 2011. I know my mom is having a hard time with many questions she is all alone all three of us daughters live from an hour and a half to two and a half hours away. She lives and runs the motel they have owned for twenty two yrs. She doesn’t drive and nothing is in walking distance. So i know she sits and thinks all day. I watch your show every week. I have a mother who will be 99 in January 2013. She is sharp as a tack but is sure to remind me that she could go any day. This last year she went through a bad bought of pneumonia and i was sure she wouldn.t make it. Lately she has been dreaming a lot about my dad and says some times she thinks he sitting in the chair next to her. Dad died 13 years ago and with in the last year she has lost 3 brothers. She is the oldest of 8 children and just her only sister and youngest brother is left. It would be a dream come true if she could just know that dad is watching over her. It just seems lately she feels more connected to him, I thought that because she was sick maybe her family is watching over her more.. I know this is a long shot hearing from you but since it is very difficult for mom to travel i thougt I would give this a try. We live in Tampa Florida and Mom lives at University village residence. I have been watching your show for some time now, I have realized you are the real deal. I just have some questions that I need answers to. My mother is passed, along with my grandfather and my good friend and I have alot of questions about my mother. Nothing negitive I just was not able to be there when she passed and I would like to know what happened. I love her dearly and I would like to know if she still feels the same for me.
