Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi theresa, ive just recently started watching your show, i didnt know about mediums, iv only heard of umm sykicks or whatever….anywho, ive recently lost an Aunt an its killing me because I never got to say goodbye like the rest of my family!! Its been hard ill get online an see lil things like her name or picture of her an ill just cry, i have a keepsake, a long time ago when I lived at home she gave me a blanket that I sleep w/ every night an so I just think about her all the time. An I just have this guilt cause I never said bye!! I have no closure an I need it!! I love an miss her so much!!
Hello, Theresa I watch your show all the time, My Mother passed away from Muti Meloma, Blood cancer which also eat away her bones so they looked like swiss cheese, and then I lost my father in 2006 from a massive heart attach, he was living with another women I didn’t like her, she seemed evil, I have always wondered if she had something to do with his death, and I would just like to know if my parents are together and happy.
Theresa, I am estranged from my son and have not heard from him in several years. My family has also not heard from him as well. I asked God and my son to show me sign to confirm if what I felt in my heart was real. Not long after that, in the evening when I went to bed, I would hear a loud sound of something hitting the wood floor in the Family Room as if small hard balls had been thrown from the second floor balcony. The following morning I found that the nuts in a decorative basket in the Family Room were strewn across the wood floors. It was as if someone had picked each nut very carefully from the basket as everythig else was perfectly in place. This happened for several nights until I asked God and my son to stop and it did. Theresa, can you tell me if my son has actually passed from this life? I need to know so much from him as our relationship was a difficult one.
