Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi Theresa, i hope you can help me find some closur and some comfort for my aching heart. My daughter has been dead for 20 yrs, and for me it has been as if i just lost her today . i miss her so so much, i need to know what happened to my little girl, and why this happened to her? Ask my daughter to tell you what nick name , i use to call her. And in that way i would know if you really have spoken to her. I have so many questions about her death and who did this to her? I know that you receive many many emails and possibly general mail as well, but I hope and pray that you can respond to this email. I’ve had several personal tragedies occur in my life, and I would love to hear from close ones who have crossed over. My family members that are still living and I had gone to a John Edwards production, and we did not get selected to be read. However, it was after my family’s fatalities that we were present at his publicized event, and it somewhat left us feeling that no one could really connect us. We just want to be happy again. If we heard from these close loved ones, we know we would be much more at peace about life, and would be more accepting about several discouraging events that had taken place. My name is Hope i have a sister who is my half sister same mom different dad but are entire family is so extremely close we all just say were family no halfs step or my sisters dad we are all just one big family, one day some thing happened that struck our family in shock sadness we are still close but our hearts are forever in pain my sisters Jake who was only 16 years old rolled his friends car in front of some ones house on the highway he was rushed to hospital almost 2 hours away from the accident even though they had already pronounced him dead on way to hospital they revived him we all were hanging on what we had prayers and hope he had fluid build up in his brain he was told he would be a vegetable he was only alove cause the tubes so jacobs mother had to make the hardest decsion of her life a decision no mother should ever have to make to pull the plug and set him free.. years have past by so quickly and jacobs mom is feeling lost and confused im sad for her i want her to find some closure and my mother told me to look you up and and ask for you to please help her with that i live in iowa and see youre coming soon to illinois and wisconsin i was hoping you could make time to come and see her it would mean alot to our family…desperate for closure for another, Hope
