Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

My husband of 25 yrs. passed away Christmas day 2010, we were the type that could look at each other and have a conversation without saying a word, lately alot of things have been happening more “intensely” and I have to have surgery in Jan., I live in Mississippi and would be willing to drive to see you if that could be a possibility, My daughter is convinced that he wants me with him, and she sort of freaks out when the occurances happen, she has been able to see people since she was about 3 yrs. old. Hello Theresa i watch your show all the time Ihad a younger sister to die they found her laying on her sofa she had been dead about three hours before anyone found her. my sister and I were not allowed to go to her funeral. We wanted to get her help and she refused. we were so hurt because she is the one that didnt want us there at here funeral. we were so hurt carry alot ofguilt please let me know that she has for given us. we loved her very much and we had to do it from a distance she was our baby sister we could not tell her goodbye the right way

Secondly, my family has suffered a great loss (like many others) and because of this loss, my family and I feel as if we are just going thru life but not really living.
I actually work (nurse) with the geriatric population and have been in the presence of many of those who have passed. Being with my patients is a beautiful experience and I believe each experience teaches me something new.
