Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I was brought up with a mother who was a very gifted lady, I won’t go into her abilities but this is why I am not a doubting thomas. It’s really hard to know how to write this. I hope that you and your family are safe from Sandy that has hit the east coast. I love your show! I know that my loves one are with me all the time and I know that they are at peace. I feel my oldest brother with me all the time, and I talk to him everyday. But I can not hear him. And I would just love to know if my sister-in-law had something to do with his death. My family and I had tried to talk to him for three weeks and never got a call back from him. Then we got a call to tell us that he was dieing. By the time we got to him (were in Tennessee and he was in Michigan) he was unable to talk with us. Ron my brother was married to his first wife for over 25 years. He had meet this woman in a bar then he got a divorce, and married this other woman and in less then two years he was dead. And she had got over a million dollars that he had got from an car company in Michigan, and three weeks later he was dieing. I have always felt that she had something to do with his death. Is there anytime that you will be down this way or maybe when my mother and I are coming to Michigan we can come to see you. I know my brother will help on getting us together. I hope your family is doing well and that I am so sadden by the event’s happening on the east coast.
Our hearts and prayers are going out to each and every one that they are safe. My mother passed away 3 years ago 11-5-2009, she was my best friend now we are trying to do our best to help our dad who has parkinson. Theresa I miss my mom so much it hurts. 1 year later her brother died 11-8-2010, I know you are very busy I just want to know is my mom at peace and I tried so hard to follow her wishes, We had to decide to take off the external respirator.Since I was a nurse and worked with her Doctor he asked us our wishes and we had to decide to take her to hospice and she passed away the next morning. Can you tell me if I am doing enough as my mom would had wanted it, and I miss her so much I hurt each day thinking about it, I just want to be with her again and hope when it is my time to go she will be waiting there for me.

My name is Stephanie, and let me start by saying I’m amazed by your show. You are such a busy lady but a goal of mine is to get a reading from you! When I was 17 I was in a bad car accident with my dad and brother. A big coal truck hit us head on! I was sitting in the back seat right behind my dad and my father passed away on my lap! My brother and I were trapped after rolling several times. We both made it out, and walked away, but we walked away without our father. This was very devistating for us. I can’t even explain to you the hurt we enfure . If this wasn’t bad enough my mother up and left us a year after. I have been without parents since I was 18. My mother left me homeless for a little and I managed to make a great life for myself. I am stronger because of this. Please from the bottom of my heart let me know how my brother sister and I could get a reading from our dad. We miss him so much. Thank you for your time!

hey theresa love the show you are so awesome my great grandmother cherry died when i was 9 i have had no relief of the grief since i never got to say goodbye and i was practically raised by her, i love her so much and still cry to this day if i could some how get a reading from you me and my mother would be interested, i live in nc and i am a very low income i am a college student and my mom is disable i have been depressed since i was 9 and nothing has helped i have deeper situations i rather not go into, but if you can contact me about any info or what we can do to get a reading please do email. thanks so much

There is a place in Auburn Indiana called the Auburn, Cord, Duesenburg Musieum. This building has some of these automobiles on display in the very factory where they were built. Every time I go in there, even if I’m the only customer in the building, I feel like I’m not alone. I feel like the spirits of people that once worked there, are still there. I told this to a person that works there, and he agreed and added that “you ought to be here at 2 in the morning”. Could this really be the spirits of those craftsmen that once worked there??
