Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

You are amazing beautiful inside and out. I am so jealous god gave your heart such an incredible gift!!! I cry every time I watch your show i would do absolutely anything to let you hear what me and my family have been thro from the sudden death of my dad. He was age 39, my firstSemester in college and was always my best friend. I have two younger siblings and my mom how still hasn’t healed. It still is very new but I know in my heart he has so much to say. I would really appreciate any way I could get ahold of you and talk to you, I would come there Or fly you here to, omaha nebraska! Our family all lives in Vegas and my dad moved us here before his passing. Nebraska is beautiful and I know it would be a visit like nothing before!!!! Im Ed and my wife and I are sitting here watching you. I lost my Dad in 2009. My Mom lives with us and she is very sick. I have 3 sisters and they never come to see her. Im wondering if my Dad is with me and my Mom, and is there any thing he can do to make her well.

My sisters son was murdered when he was 14, she has a daughter and twin boys that are younger than he was at his death in 2000, his name is Nathan Mayorall. My sister and her husband were always viberant active people. After the death of their son, they sunk into a horrible addiction to cokecane, my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and their house burned down; the insurance company decided they were responsible as they were a couple payments behind even though the fire marshall declared if an accident. This family has been through “hell” and although they are now drug free and recovered, there is still something that hangs over them all. I love my sister and her family and respect all that they have gone through on their journey to recovery from this tragic moment of their lives. I feel that that the twin boys, although young when he died, still have this hole in their lives that hold at least one of them back. Is it possable to have a reading over the phone?? We live in Texes and my sister is a great fan of yours, I do not know how else to give them healing; dad, Tony, has been told he has a growth in his lung. Please let me knoe if there is anything you can do to help this family that is in desperate need of closure.

I had tears in my eyes every time I watched your show. I lost my brother unexpectedly on 3/19/2012. His wife took him to ER cause he said he couldn’t breath. The doctor put breathing tube in him and he never regained conciousness. He passed away in 9 days. We didn’t have a chance to say good bye. He’s the closest person in the world to me. I miss him terribly. I think of him every day, I wish there’s a way I could contact him. I wish I could know he is with me, and he is doing ok.
