Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I have watched all your shows since i found out of you i lost my loved one 8 months ago, he used to watch your show with me and i years so much if i could only get intouch with you to get words from him. i did not get his last words as he was on a life support and i wonder every day what if???????. I’m 17 years old I live in Vineland New Jersey and just about 3 years ago my uncle lost his daughter saige. He loves her very much and doesn’t know how to handle his loss. He drinks to cover up his real feelings. This is not a way to live. He’s mentally destroyed by her loss and can’t let her move on to the other side. 4 years ago I lost my sister, best friend, and the shining light of my life. I grew up in a religion where I was taught that when someone dies that “their just dead”. Their “in the ground” and their life in “over”. I can’t imagine her just lying there. I haven’t been the same since the day she passed. It’s Thankgiving today. I have choosen to be by myself because I just hate the holidays without her. You have given me hope that she is happy and safe. God Bless You. I hope one day you will have an event near my home in Alabama so that I will be able to attend.

Hi Theresa, First I want to say that I love your show and totally believe in what you do and think it’s great that you want to share your gift to help so many people. I would like to ask you a question. My granddaughter is only 2 months old and we have been noticing that any time she is in a room with a ceiling fan that’s on, she not only stares at it but also smiles and coos like she’s trying to talk to it. I keep telling my daughter that she is seeing spirits of close family members who have passed because you have said on your show that babies are held by our deceased loved ones prior to being born. Could this be true?

my mom has lost her mother who was her best friend, her sister who was also another best friend and a brother all of within a few years my mom has such a difficult time because before my aunt was about to pass she wanted to tell my mom something and my mom changed the subject is was too emotional for my mother and everyday she wishes that she would have kept her mouth closed and listend to what my aunt was trying to tell her. she was on life support and my cousin which is my moms neice wanted her taken off of life support. which was actually against protocal of the hosp so my cousin which is my aunts daughter jumped through those hoops to get her off of life support.my mom feels terribly guilty for cutting her off when there was something that she was really wanting to tell my mom and she passed before there was another chance of them to have some time to one another my mom begged them to leave her hooked up for at least the 24 hours to follow the hospitals protocal. but my cousin refused to allow it due to my aunt’s health insurance ending that night at midnight. I would give anything in this world to let my mom get the opportunity to meet you. I really believe in your stories and feel like you could really help my mom get through this difficult time.
My mom feels so much guilt because she should have just listened but she though if she avoided the conversation she thought it would buy her some more time with her sister

I live in Pittsburgh Pa. my mom, grams and i had lost my grandfather 6 years ago when he was in surgery. and we lost my aunt which is my moms sister 4 years ago in a car accident.

I had open heart surgery (triple bypass) May 2012 (6 months ago). I am still having a hard time recovering. In the past year I have lost about 10 of my friends here, plus my sister, whom I was extremely close to. I miss her SO much! I feel like she’s trying to get me and take me to where she is.
Hi Thersa 14 years ago today I lost my husband and my bestfreind my high shcool sweetheart in a motorcycle accident which changed my life forvever. I recently found out that I might be gettin forclosed on which mean I would have to leave our house we bought together and made so many memories here. I am sooo afraid to leave I feel as if he wont be able to find plus the disappointment he must feel torwards me. Would love to talk to Tereasa, I lost my best friend the night i was suppose to get my drivers license. i failed the test and that night when we were suppose to be out she was killed in accident with some other friends. I attended sever funerals through out my high school years, our school was over whelmed with accidental deaths left and right, starting with hers. Its been 26 years and i still have guilt about her loss. please help!

Teresa… Can you please help …. A gentleman died in a firery work related crash on the 6 freeway below my house 4-5-11 and ever since then I have been receiving signs that I believe are from him. I have been seeing angels for the past one and an half years along with so many other signs…. I believe he is trying to contact me and I have no idea what to do.
I could go on and on with all of the signs… It’s beautiful to me that God is using me buyt I have no idea who to turn to or what to do….
