Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

hi my name is Aryka Lamb. I am 13. my brother passed away last year because of an accident. me and my mom miss him so much and we wanted to know what happened to him and if he ok. He survived for a couple of days in the hospital and we got to talk to him and he was doing really good. Then one day my mom called me and told me he had died. i hope you can help us.

Hi Teresa, first I want to say I love your show. I am really needing some help from you. My family and I just relocated to Houston with my husbands job. Our home town is Durango Colorado. We recently had a child go missing there and has just disappeared. My son is four and is connecting with someone and telling me things about his friend. He says his friend is the little boy Dylan. He is telling me things that he couldn’t of heard from me or anyone else because it hasn’t been out in media. If you can contact me I would greatly appreciate it. HI,I know you get tons of emails asking about loved ones who passed on. And you probably will not read this however I am going to give this a go. I have a brother who was murdered when I was nine, I am now 27. My life feels so imcomplete without him. He left behind 3 children, at which I try so hard to be a mother/ bigsister/ auntie. ALong with my other ten siblings. He was my moms first born, she was 13 when she had him, ever since then she has compleltly changed. Meaning she takes everything out of us, well she did then… now we are all adults .. the tables have turned where as though we love her bc shes our mother, and bc God said so. The murder changed us all. I wionder why I havent seen him in my dreams or anything. I mean I miss him sooooo much! He was my father, my protector … just hurts. I wonder if hes proud of me … does he think about me or talk about me. Sometimes I just think hes going to walk through the door and says im home ! Help me please!!
Hi I have watche dyour shows and find intrest in what your able to do. I have lost the two most important people in my life. My father-n-law a little over a year ago and my dad this past april. I am 37 years old and going thru a divorce now. i addopted three girls that was hers from her first marriage then we had two boys. I wonder about what is to come and what is with my father-n-law and dad. I am lost and confused with life from all the negativity. Thank you for taken the time to read this.

Thersa I know u are a busy women but on Oct 24 my passed away suddenly and it was not a pleasant death..I have really struggled with this I talk to here every night but sometime I get sick to my stomach knowing if she is ok..I know u get this a lot but please if u can give something that she is here with me or will I never get to

Hi theresa i’m from a small central american country called Belize in December of 2011 my brother was killed in a home invasion in his own home. oh god we have not been able to ever get over the way he was taken from us we loved him dearly. Hello Teresa, I lost my Son 10 years ago this Feb, He wasn’t very happy here in this world. before he passed we had a fight, I need to know if he is happier where he is now. I talked to him everyday I can’t let go. I can’t sleep unless I take a sleeping pill. I keep his ashes here with me so I can feel close to him. I have lost 5 very close family members and need to know if he is with any of them. I watch your show and some how it makes me feel closer to them. Thank You for that!!!!

I have ben searching for him for a long time and do not know where else to go. We only know a few details and we are not even sure we are looking for the right man. We are exhausted please help him. My uncle and my cousin Joe have been through so much. They lost their brother/son when he was 3 due to a brain tumor & recently lost their mom/wife due to cancer. They’re amazing people, why them? I would love it if you could give them a reading.

I have had a very bad few years. I sure wish I could talk with you, and see how someone is doing that is no longer with us. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t brake down..
