Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I have emailed you in the past about my husband and I lost our daughter almost 24 years now. I still don’t have closure on her death and would love somehow for us to have a meeting with you. OUr life has been very hard with lots of tragedies the biggest being parents of a deceased 4 year old daughter. We also have a severely special needs daughter she is still with us after 30 long years. We also have another daughter and a son both of whom are very normal. Needless to say we have been through more than most. Still everyday of my life thinking of our little angel of. 24 years . If there is a way we can be in touch with you we watch all your programs on Sundays . The peopleslivesmyoumtouch are just amazing to us. I wrote to you about my boyfriend Jack and his problems, but I did not tel you about myself. I have suffered panic attacks since I was 9 years old (now 55) after my friend died suddenly from meningitis. She had wanted to attend a carnival at our grade school but she died before she was able. After that I had a lot of anxiety and panic attacks whenever I wanted something like Christmas (which was coming up) or going to a movie, or anything I was excited about. I always thought that I would die if I wanted anything a lot. I still have panic attacks and I had a lot of trouble dealing with this loss. I don’t know if you could help me with this or not but it is a major problem in my life.
I am in a relationship with a wonderful man. We have been together for over 18 yrs. We are in our 50’s. He (Jack)has a lot of issues from his childhood when both of his parents died tragically when he was in 3rd grade. He has problems getting close to people and does not want to marry again..(1st marriage ending in divorce). He has has other losses through death and I think that is why he has so many problems. He doesn’t really know exactly what happened with his parents and if he could resolve this I believe that he could have a better life. My father sexually abused me as a child,died in 86, my brother committed suicide in 89 over a woman ( which was my first body I hair styled) and my son died in 2000 over an accidental drug overdose. Moved to Iowa, from WI in 2010 for a man and he died a month later ( who I Loved VERY much). Now I live in Golden Valley,AZ and wonder if all is well? Miss my son VERY much!
