Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi teresa, i would be interesed in your advice, my sweet becky died tragicaly jan, 2nd 2012, she left behind a six year old daughter that many believe i am her fater, another has taken her and denied her entire family and myself any contact, this guy has a history of domestic violence conviction,s, multiple felony convictions, I have much heart break, diffuculty getting past her death, i love her and her daughter unconditionaly and in one brief moment they have both been taken from me. Hi Theresa. I’m a 13 year old girl who has recently in the summer of 2012 lost her grandmother. I feel like she tries to communicate with me because sometimes I feel the need to read the letter she left for me. She didn’t get to completely watch me grow up and along with my younger sister. She became very ill because of her diabetes and when she was taken off life support she only lived about 10-15 minutes after both her husband and my mom left the hospital. She knew she was going to depart and somehow she was able to wait until they said goodbye. Thank you and I hope you can come do a reading for me I have so many unanswered questions.
My friend watch your show, and as I watch her, I can see this sorrow in her eyes. She is a twin and there mother died. I never had the pleasure of meeting her mom but she raised two wonderful twin daughter that miss her very much. Hi my name is falyn 5 yrs ago this March I lost my 18 yr old brother he was the most beautiful man inside n out he was in boxing he jogged everyday he didn’t smoke r do drugs he raised my 2nd son while I was getting help in a rehab he tought him to walk n talk cchanged diapers the whole 9 yard’s he was just a angel on earth …….March 16 a month exactly to the day he was born my mom gets a call from my grandma where’s my brother n they picked him up the. Nite before he better be there n my grandmother says well he’s not n big Billy pills r missing of course my didn’t believe her knowing my brother n said well yall better find Freddy well my grandmother called rite back n said Kim he’s n little Billy’s room n he’s not breathing my mom rushed over there which was maybe a 5mmin drive n the police emt’s whole 9 yards were there trying to work on him well needless to say he passed because his brain was without oxygen for so long we later found out big Billy found my brother body n hed him under the bed hurried up told my grandmother Freddy stole his pills n told the police the same my brother had a pocket filled with $ which was gone my brother’s face was flawless an in the hospital he had a busted lip n bruises on his face foul play was called out BC the said he died from a bad heart well SOMA is a muscle relaxer n ur heart is ur biggest muscle…we have so many UN answered questions why did they hide his body n lie from the get go my family is now split apart BC big Billy was not even a family member but my lil cousins dad who is a big crack addict I’d really appreciate it if u can back to me n help us getting some closure in our life I live in new Orleans la please help my family he was my 1 n only brother n my mom’s only son we would be greatly appreciated u would help fill that void we now have thank u for ur time falyn Leslie

Are you able to help people from afar? My father in law passed about 5 years ago. It was very difficult for all of us. We had just left the hospital and we felt like he knew something was going to happen. I just need to know if he is able to still see my kids grow and succeed. He loved his grandkids and they so loved him.
I would also like to know what he actually passed from. The doctors never told us, but we have our thoughts.
