Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Theresa, you are awesome I love watching you.I am 53 an I have always had trouble with depression but I have lost many loved ones in the past few years and am really having a hard time with it. In 2008 I commited suicide and was on life support and had a stroke on top of that went throught a terrible divorce after 32 years of marrage and just couldn’t handle all the loss so again in 2012 I commited suicide and in ICU for a long time.Theresa I don’t feel god wants me an satin won’t take me either so I am JUST HERE. my Uncle’s wife died about 2 wks ago at the age of 34 we would like to know what happen she was in great shape and also she left behind 1 son and he is 11yrs old and taking it pretty hard the corner said it would be a long time before they know . she just went to been and when my uncle woke up she was gone . thank you so much

I can not imagine how busy you must be. I just hope you can give me a short reply so I can rest my head. It has been 17 years and I still feel guilt. My Dad and I were black sheep of the family because this we had a bond. Many times Dad tried to tell me what he wanted for a funeral. I thought we had lots of time. I never recorded or kept track of his wishes. A simple operation and a mistake by doctors put my Dad on life support. I was called and tried to get my family to come. No one came. It was to close to Christmas. I alone had to decide to take Dad off life support. Dad’s last day no one came except my 14 year old son and my husband. I had to make so many choices and decisions about his funeral. Family did not want to be involved it was Christmas by this time. Years later I remember some of Dad’s wishes. Please tell me is my Dad angry with me? Will he forgive me? I am so sorry for so much. Does he understand? Every time I think of Dad (often) I feel guilt. He suffered so much here on earth. Is he okay? I wish I can tell him how sorry I am and I miss him so.

I had a very strong willed mother, who we feel has been trying to make contact with us , her children and grand children were the most important people in the word to her and we thought the same about her. Hi Teresa, My don died February 17, 2013 and I just have to know that he is alright. My son was very troubled here on earth and I just want to know that he is at peace so I can have peace. My Matthew was such a beautiful child and grew up to be such an angry young man and I just want to know what went wrong. I know he was always upset that his dad and I divorced, but I have to know if he is at peace. I play on a softball team at my work and last night I felt I saw him standing by the fence watching me play, I may just want to see him so bad I imagined it, but I felt it was so real and by the time I got off the field to get a closer look, the person was gone. I just need closure, I don’t know how he died, it is still under investigation, I just want to know he didn’t suffer and he is o.k. I know you are so busy and I am just one of hundreds that ask you about loved ones, but if you have the time if you could just let me know. I watch what you do and I believe God has given you such a gift, which I’m sure you may not see that way sometimes, but if you could let me know about my son I would be so greatful.
