Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I like others who have lost a loved one mourned. I have always believed in there being something more out there. We lost our dad when he was 51 to cancer and our mom at 69 to cancer. But, two weeks after my mother passes away my nephew(josh) was killed in a car accident. What a shock.
At night I lay in bed with the lights off in total silence and darkness and ask: ” Mom, Dad, Josh are you OK? Are you together? I ask for a sign or something and never get anything. I have left a recorder on, but nothing. This has led me to believe that there is no other side or place. It is hard to believe that when we die we are gone!! Done!!

Dear Theresa as much as I would love to know that my mom is okay, I am writing for one of my best friends who lost his son recently. The father and his other son have a lot of guilt surrounding his death. I dont know how to make understand that there should be no guilt and he feels that he failed his son. I hope that maybe you can help him find peace. I know his son loved and cherished him but he can’t see that right now. The wierd thing is that I am a huge believer of signs from our departed loved ones and today well you spoke of a little boy that followed you for a while, there also many other little signs and im not sure they were just from my mom. I think they were for me to contact you, not sure.

I love your show and I would love to here from you. I’m writing to you from Ansonia ,CT. I had a very hard life.My father die when I was 11years old. My mother was a drug addict.I I had to drop out of school when I finish 8 grade to raise my three sister .One was a month old my mother got pregnant in 1994 with my baby sister.i lost my father in 1992. his mother in 2009.last year I lost my uncle the only person and brother of my father.i just want to know if my dad and uncle are wiht there mother mercdeis nieves . my father names is carlos nieves and uncleorlando nieves.My cousin die in 1998 I never told anyone but he touch me for many years until I put a stop to it .MY uncle die in prison he die all of something right before this lease, I was so hurt because he was so health and I spoke to him a day before they told me he pass..he told that the officers were getting laidoff .so the were taking out it on the inmates my .my uncle was my life I took over sending him his holiday baskets and visit every other sunday. all this calls. he did 24years.. for robbery and he was very honest person and took his punishment.I have anxiety and panix attacks and depression I feel that I will always be unhappy until I understand what happen to my family ..please help me i don’t have much .I’m a single mom and i want to close this chatper please help me,,203 8930887

Teresa, My mom’s bestfriend of about twenty years passed away and she was heart broken, she always has weird things happening to her that she believes is her friend trying to contact her. She watches your show all the time and she loves you! She says that she wishes she could talk to you and I really would love to make that happen for her. Dear Teresa, my precious and very loved father who was a wonderful man,died in my arms six years ago on January 26. He was there for my first breath and I was there for his last, which was heartbreaking for me! He and I were as close as a father and daughter could be and I cannot get over it. I have tried everything and if I could only get a message from him on what I should do, it would be a godsend. I’ve always been daddy’s little girl and I feel as if I have no identity any more, if you know what I mean. He had cancer of the prostate that spread very quickly and I didn’t give up hope that God would save this wonderful man. I didn’t get to say everything I wanted to and tell him how much I loved him. Dear Teresa my sister lost her son almost five years ago and she is still having a very hard time with it I dont know if there is quilt that is stopping her from moving on she lives in Idaho and I know that is a long way away I dont know if these things can be done over the phone or if you could travel that far but I am very worried about her she needs to start living again.
