Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I have become a fan of your show over the last 9 months, over 10 months ago I lost my lover of 27 1/2 to emphysema and he died in my arms and I didn’t get to say good bye, i’ve been contemplating suicide just so I can talk to him one more time and if I gotta spend the rest of eternity in hell it will be worth it to me, I have never once ask anyone for help but i’m asking you what I should do. I didn’t have the money to bury him so I had to have a cremation for him and I keep having the same dreams of him.

I watch your show and ive never truely believed until you.i lost my previous wife 5years ago from a horrific car accident. I treated her in the ambulance until life flight came. I didn’t have closure and I need to have answers and know shes ok now. My first time today seeing you on TV. I was overwelmed with feelings. I have lost many close people in my life as many others have. (Most recent window from this month and back to Oct, 2011. In addition, from Nov 2006 and Aprl 2007 and Aug 1978and Oct 1992, I can go on. However, I have strange but good feelings that surround me at times. I wish I could hear them communicate to me rather then a feel them. Well maybe some day when I am back home we can meet. My mom and grandma passed away around 15 years ago and I feel like I let them down I have 3 children with 2 wives and I don’t get to see my children the way a father should. I was wondering if they are upset with me and if they know my children and will this pass.
Hi Theresa ….Everytime I watch your show I cry. I think cause you would be the only connection I have to my son. I lost my son 9-4-11. He was sick since he was a baby . I took care of him for 23yrs .Him and I had a close relationship . We spent so much time in the hospital over those yrs and toward the end . He looked to me for everything like comfort etc . He had such Faith in God and that alone should get me through to know he is ok. But when I had control over everything that happened in his life to make sure he was safe it is hard for me to be away from him cause we were together all the time and did so much together . I really need to know that he is ok . Please..Please Theresa the only comfort I’m gona have is if you let me know this .I don’t trust anyone else .I would love to sit and talk to you Theresa . Hi Theresa, my name is Karen…my 19 year old stepson died in a car accident in 2007, shortly there after my mother n law was diagnosed w/cancer and died a year later…my husband of 16 years started self medicating after she passed and became very violent and OD shortly after me and my 9 year old autistic son had moved out…shortly after that, i started dating a mutual friend of my husband and I, and a year later he died as well…and just for shits and giggles my grams died in between all the madness…desperately would love to connect with any, if not all of them as they all passed between 2007-2010 and I have not been able to have any closure….
