Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Dear Theresa I watch your show all the time, we have had a lot of death in our family in the last 6 years all very close family, sisters father ect. I am grieving so badly I have lost almost all of the most important people in my life beginning 2003. Of course I watch your show!! every episode makes me cry! I lost my grandma and we were very close and I know we all miss her so very much! I was also wondering what happens to the baby when someone has a miscarriage I sadly had a miscarriage and lost my grandma. My mom would love some closer and as so would I.It would be a blessing from my grandma and of course you if you can please come to Colorado! It would be a shock to my mommy! Over the past 15 years I’ve lost 4 different relatives and I’m needing closure on one particular family member that’s passed. My aunt was a second mother to me and she was diagnosed with dementia. I don’t know if she understood what was said just before she passed. I realize it would be just about impossible for you to do a reading for me, but if I wanted to visit a medium in my local area, what advise would you recommend in selecting a real medium to make sure this person isn’t just interested in wanting to collect my money. What clues would I need to pick up on to confirm the person is really capable and has the gift for an accurate reading.

I watch your show when I remember. Three years ago 7-5-2010 I lost my husband of three yrs. He went on a scooter ride,on july 4. That evening around 5p.m.police knocked on my door to tell me my husband was in in a serious accident an when the police left he was still breathing! That he was at hospital. I got there he was in surgery. Needless to say he never woke I didn’t say my goodbyes! I told him I LOVED HIM!

HI Theresa my name is Ashley Hiles , and im speaking for my cousins Shaena, Amber, Jackie,and Brittany They have been through a lot. Amber had cancer ,relapsed and then lost her leg . They have all been through a lot they lost there mother young after Amber had lost her leg to bone cancer and there mother had been taking care of amber. Amber was in remission when their mother fell ill. They Are more like sisters to me and there mother was like a mother to me I was very close with them all and when I moved to maine I didn’t get to say good by because she passed may 28 right after I moved here. I was not able to go to her funeral. I really want them to be able to have some closure they need there mother and I really think that by getting them closure I m being there for them . please help me in doing so thank you Theresa , I look forward to hearing from you ,
