Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.
UPDATE 2/1/2013 – The BEST way to contact Caputo is through her new website: www.theresacaputo.com
Her phone number that was previously listed here is no longer in service, so we removed from the post. When we last talked to Theresa (January 2012), she told us the best way to reach her is via her new website at www.theresacaputo.com. This was an update to what TLC previously provided (Longislandmedium@gmail.com). That email address we have tried and have never gotten a response. Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I lost my husband 3 1/2 years ago. I just can’t afford to take her to one of your shows, (even if so, she might not even get read) Monday June 3rd is my youngest daughters 16th birthday. What are the odds you could spare a few lines about her dad.
Thank you for your time.
Dear Theresa,
Myself and my husband watch your show. My husband lost his parents and brother within the past 15 years.
He had a troubled youth and has battled alcoholism and drug addiction. He has now has been sober for 12 years and has children of his own and is guardian to a handicap sister.
He struggles with faith although we know that faith without works is dead, he works very hard at his faith but there is a nagging emptiness not knowing if his parents have forgiven him for his actions. He is at a sticking point in his own life and verification of knowing will allow him to move on and be the person that he strives to be.
This is something I would like to do for him so he can have closure. He is a great husband, father and brother. Any input you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tina

Hello Theresa
My name is Paulette, I watch your show on TLC all the time, I finally got the courage to write to you.
This past while I have suffered a great big loss, my heart has been broken into a million pieces.
I feel so alone and have been crying daily, I have so many questions that I want answered but know that I will never get those questions answered.
Just seeing you help all those people gives me an insight that I am not alone, but I feel very alone I hope and pray that one day I will get to meet you, but I know that this is not possible because we live so very far apart, I was wondering if it was possible for us to connect by email, I know it is impossible for us to meet in parson because I live in a remote community Nain Labrador, Canada to be exact.
I know that you are very busy and have a lot on your hands, So I understand if I don’t hear back from you.
Sincerely
Paulette
Hi Theresa, My aunt is flying to LA from Mexico to see you June 06 at Cerritos Center. Its been about 3year since her only child past away from accident. She hasent been able to move on. Can you help! I just want her to move on…
I would like to know about my mother and grandmother
Dear Theresa,
I watch your show all the time, you have been gifted with this amazing power and sure does help people who have lost a loved one.
My family was born and raised in North Dakota and we moved to Glendale California in 1964. We lost our Father when I was 2 years old, my sister was barely 1 years old and all we had left was our Mother.
I find watching your show gives me a healing feeling, we found a month before she left our world she had stage 5 Pancreatic Cancer and passed away at home July 7, 2008 with my sister and I right by her side. She was in a coma the last couple days and we knew God was calling her to heaven. We both told her it was ok to go and that my sister and I would be fine. We told her we didn’t want her to go and that we loved her very much. I told her to follow the light and that someone who was alreday in heaven would meet her and show her the way and not to be afraid. My sister and I went to the restroom and when we came back she was gone, she didn’t want us to see her pass away. It was so hard to let her go and my sister and I are still grieving. We havine’t touched anything in my mom’s bedroom, she and my sister had bought a house years back and everything is the same. We miss her so much, my heart still can’t stop hurting and crying just brings back the pain of losing her. My Mom was as strong as a horse, no health issues, 70 years old and this cancer just wiped her out just like that. I just can’t understand why God had to take her so soon.
Come July 7, 2013 she will have been gone for 5 long painful years. EVERY SINGLE night I tell her I love her and miss her so very much! I know one day down the road we will see each other again.
I would love a reading from you, but I know you are loaded with others like me, desperately missing a loved one that went to soon.
Keep doing what your doing, you are helping people deal with their grief just watching your show.
God Bless you and all that you do, your family is lucky to have you in their lives.
Sincerely,
Judie Babinski
Glendale, CA
Theresa, I was wanting to schedule a reading with you but looking at all of your other emails, I see that it would never happen. There are to many others looking for the same thing. I guess the only way we can get any answers is to put it in God’s hands. If you are doing this in God’s name then may God Bless you. If you are messing with people who are devastated by the loss of a special loved one then I pray that it will be revealed. Bonnie

SPIRITS ARE AROUND ME
ALL THE TIME
AND THEY WON’T SET ME FREE
BECAUSE IT’S MY GIFT
AND MY LIFE
I HELP PEOPLE
WHO HAVE LOST A HUSBAND OR A WIFE
OR A LOVED ONE WHO TOOK THEIR LIFE
SO, SO MANY TEARS
ARE SHED IN FRONT OF ME
EVEN SKEPTICS WHO DON’T BELIEVE
WILL CRY LIKE A BABY AND GRIEVE
WHEN THEY RECEIVE
THE CHANNELING I GIVE THEM
THEN THEY CAN LET GO
OF THE GUILT THEY HAVE FELT
FOR THEY KNOW
THERE WAS NOTHING THEY DID WRONG
IT WAS THIS PERSONS TIME TO GO
EVEN IF THIS PERSON DIDN’T LIVE LONG
IT WAS SOMETHING THEY COULD NOT PROLONG

Dear Theresa
I lost my beautiful daughter 4 years ago. It was sudden with warning. I loved her so much I sent her back to her dad so they could repair their relatrionship and it worked. Although the last time I talked to her was the day before and we both said i love you , I sometimes feel she was taken from me because I did not deserve her. She was amazing. Please help me know that she truly understood how important she was to me. Thank you Liz
Hi Theresa, I have recently lost a loved one, and would consider it an honor if you would contact me.
My husband died suddenly and unexpected March 12 2012. Im at a total loss and am unable to move forward. He was my best friend and more.I feel lost alone and stuck….Help any advice?
Hi Teresa, we would love for you to come to Northern California for our mother. When my siblings and I were young, our grandmother passed. Our mother holds on to this and gets upset at just the sound of her name. For her to have some closure would just be amazing.
Hi Theresa,
I love your show and I truely believe you as a Medium. Do you ever make it out to northern Calif.? My husband and I have lost several memebers of our family but I would really love to connect with my mother. There’s not a day that doesn’t go by that I don’t think of her.
Do you believe in Purgatory??? I would love to hear what you think?
Thank you for your time,
Sue Hendrickson
