Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

i was at ur show in peoria.il. i was a true believer in u teresa until that nite. 2000 people in the theatre and u read 5. and the ones u read were public knowledge. i like many others just needed a little validation. my heart and faith was broke that nite.
How come I can’t do a reading on myself?
I don’t know if u will be able to even get this email because u are one busy medium and everybody would love to be the chosen one to receive such a gift of reading from u to have closure with their loved ones. I lost my grandfather years ago and now my dad whom I loved and respected dearly, my mother abandoned us a decade ago and all we have left was my dad. He loved and lived life through her and became an alcoholic he was so heartbroken and became sick. We fought for him to be alive and thanked god everyday for keeping him alive. I was greatful that god gave me 6 additional years before we found out he had stage 4 liver cancer. There was so much we could do but prayed to god that when he takes our beloved father from us that he will not suffer anymore. I don’t know how’s he doing? Is he ok? Where is he? Now again after 2 years I just lost my uncle I don’t know if he suffered the same fate as my dad? And I don’t know if I will get any closure…..
It`s been 2 years sense my dad in law died and 1 year sense my brother in law died . I just hope that you can come to Arkansas soon and thank you for your time.

I watch your show all of the time. I am 24 years old married with a 16 month old son and a baby on the way. My mother passed away when I was five turning six. Ever since she passed my life has spiraled downward. I’ve felt like half of me has been missing for many, many years. I often still cry everyday because she isn’t here. I’m only 24 years old with grey hairs and I look older than what I am and I know it’s because I’m so stressed out. I know that 95% of my stress comes from the fact of knowing that she’s not here. I need answers and I need to finally be at peace that way I can live a happy life with my family. Please Theresa I really need your help, Thank you.
My husband passed away almost 4 yrs ago. I miss him terrible. I am now dating a wonderful man does he approve. Is he still suffering does he come around me and my kids. I still feel so empty.

It is so weird that I started watching your show a few weeks ago and told my husband, “She is for real”. Then last Monday, my sister pasted away. She was only 59 (five years older than me). She has been sick for a while but it was still so unexpected. I have so many unanswered questions that I know you could help me with and put my mind and heart at ease. And my Mother and Dad, they are really having a hard time. I really need to talk to you, just a phone call would help. I know you could help all of us. You are a blessing to everyone who you talk to. I love to watch your show, a typicle Long Island woman. I lived on Long Island, in Canter Moriches..My grandmother was a psychic, her mom, and her greatgrand mother. I am the fourth, I lived in a haunted house on Senix Ave. in the fifties. I was chased out three times by the goasts, I went back in, I did not want them to win. When I moved to Massachusets I met a pscich there, she taught me not to be afraide of spirits. So I have been helping people solve their hurt lives with loved ones that passed, it helpes them heal.
