Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hello Theresa, saw you last night here in Portland Or. what a night!!! So enjoyed it but it is hard to sit around all of the emotions. Don’t know how you do it. I wish now I wouldn’t have pushed my ability?. away but I had a bit different experience where a lot of the things I saw were dark and scary. Not all of course , but too often. Hi, Theresa, First I just want to tell you I love your show and you and your family. I can watch the shows over and over again. My husband and I lived in Holbrook for 28 years and then moved due to his job. We loved it there. I am writing to ask how to get a group reading. for so many years I tried to get in contact with my sister and dad they have both passed. my whole family took both very hard and wish that one day we can speak to them again. I have tried. we got tickets to John Edwards in Orlando over a year ago but did not get read. we live in Saint Cloud, FL. My dad is gone for 4yrs and my sister 11yrs. We all would love to have validation that they are ok and let them know that we love them and miss them very much. we are going through a tough time my husband job is moving and we just moved a year ago to Clearwater and now they moved to Orlando so now we are back in Orlando but the company is not doing well. My husband is looking he has two interviews lined up one in Gainsville FL and one in OH. I am really scared my mom live here in Saint Cloud and she is my life and to move out of state after she loved here for my and my kids it kills me. we are not even unpacking I do feel bad for my three kids we moved them last year now we don’t even know where we are going. Hi Theresa, I am writing to you because my best friend lost her dad a year ago It has been very hard on her because no one knows how he died and she just cries at different times and it breaks my heart because she feels like if she would have went over to his house the night before then she would have known that something was not right and take him to the hospital so it has really been a long year for her and her family

Hello Theresa, I watch your show all the time. I think your amazing and my kids will walk in the room to find me crying. You touch so many people and make a difference in so many peoples lives. I would love for you to come to North Carolina so myself along with my oldest daughter could see your show or even better set up a private meeting with you. I was very young when my father pasted away at home while I was there. I have had experiences happen to me that people think I am crazy. My husbands mother passed away and he left on Thanksgiving morning to get a paper for black Friday shopping. I was making my stuffing and felt someone around me. I heard her talking to me not out loud but in my head. He came home and looked at me and asked what was wrong. I told him what had happen and what she said. He said he had never told me those things. Hi Theresa, needless to say I am a huge fan of yours and I watch your show religiously. The reason I want to contact you is that I have a very strong draw towards you and I feel that we must meet, almost as though it is meant to happen. I want to have a reading for my boyfriend. He lost his brother approximately 10 years ago. He died tragically and unfortunately my boyfriend cannot find closure as he was not speaking to his brother prior to his death. I had him watch your show and he couldn’t really do it. He became so emotional and I know that it brought back memories of his brother. I would love to arrange for a reading for him as a gift from me. I love him and I know that he carries a lot of guilt because he didn’t have a relationship with his brother before he passed. I know that you are in great demand but please find it in your heart to help us out. Teresa my parents are in need of your help. They lost their son who was 19 at the time of accident. He died a couple days after his car accident. My parents do not know if it was accident drunk driving or suicide. They have so many unaswered questions. They struggle every day with it. It has not been yr yet since his death.
