Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I am going to see your performance on August 11, 2013 at the Mohegan Sun Arena, which I am very excited about. I would like to know how I can get a one on one reading or a group reading here in my hometown of Connecticut or meet with you in Long Island. I watch your show all the time and I think you are awesome. Hello, I enjoy watching your show, I do have a question though. You talk about your past lives but yet the souls of someone that had passed for many years connects with you. Did they not go on the have another life, I am confussed.
You spoke with a woman who had a still birth, I also had one 34 years ago, it gives me hope that he knows when I think of him.

I really think you are very connected to the things I believe in. I have had a lot of loss, and know that I am strong enough to be where I am. However, I have some holes that need answers so I can kick some ass and not be dragged down because of them. A personal reading is all I need, I am not interested in it being televised. Hi Theresa, I watch your show all the time and hope you can answer some questions for me. I took care of my mother eleven years ago before she passed. Since that time, other than my twin sister, my brothers and sisters have ostracized me and given me a very difficult time. I need to know if my mother was satisfied with the care I tried to give her and if she agrees with the decisions that I made following her passing. Hi Theresa, I am a First Nations people and would like to emphasize that our traditional ceremonies/teachings are not for sale. We hold our traditions close.For someone that is not a First Nations person using our culture with no knowledge of it whatsoever is very dangerous. People that do use it will not benefit as we do. Our Feather is sacred! Our Drum is sacred! and our medicines used to smudge are sacred! I am however a fan and wish you the best in your career/journey as you help people move on.

Theresa, I lost my husband a year ago and need so badly to know that he’s around me and that his journey into the next world is what I hoped it would be for him. I watch your show whenever I am in Vegas visiting my boyfriend. Aug.26,2013 will be the two year anniversary of losing my mom to Leukemia. ( I don’t know if anniversary is the right word since it was not a happy occasion). I just want to know if she is happy and content. There are a lot of things going on in my life, I miss her very much and just want to know if she finally has peace. She was always here for everyone else and not for herself. Dear Teresa, I can see how many people need your help and support in healing their hearts and souls, and I know you don’t have time to be able to help everybody … What you do is so amazing and soo many people find comfort in what you are able to communicate to them from their loved ones. I am not sure how to set up a reading appointment or even if you still make those.
