Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi Theresa: I am from Canada in a small town in Ontario My daughter was just over nine months old when she passed. She would be 33 this year. I try at time to talk to her and at one point I thought she was there. I just dont’ feel her anymore.Is she still around?? Let me know when you can.

Hello Theresa, I have a partner of 20 years that has lost a cousin (almost a year ago now) that was extremely close to him (more like a brother sister relationship) I know this sounds crazy but she came to me in a dream and said she has been trying to talk to him but he is not listening (her death was questionable) he is an old traditional Catholic and of course would never consider talking to someone like a medium…me on the other hand, although now traditional Catholic am open to people such as you….(I’ve had a few strange things in the past that makes me believe that yes life does exist beyond our relm) I pray you don’t feel I’m a “crazy” just an email back would be such a help…….is there any way in heaven you could help?

I am a 39 year old single mom of an almost 15 year old girl from East Meadow. 18 months ago I lost my fiancee very tragically. I have since been to 2 mediums that confirmed his presence. I really need your help with finding out if my mom is ok now. she got breast cancer and her husband would not let her get treated. she was a severely battered women and controlled her life with threats. She finally left just before she got it and he went with a gun and with threat of shooting her friends he made her leave with him. I did not know any of this until it was to late. He killed her and made her suffer before the end. I need to know if she is ok now. Her name is Mitzi Osterhold Eberlein Farina. If you could just keep an ear open and let me know I would appreciate it. She left me 2 years ago. I am so afraid she is bound to this earth and not moved on. You are the only one that can help me.

Recently it seems as if I have went to the next level because now I am able to see the dead. First situation I saw a young boy in my home. My daughter sees things as well. I wnt to be able to use this gift to help people but wnt to know the correct way. Also dnt wnt to see the spirits in my home. It keeps me from sleeping at night because I see so much in my dreams. I’m rick and i’m normally not a fan of all this medium stuff but 11 months ago I lost the lover of my life to Emphysema and we were together for almost 28 years, Now I need to let you know that my lover and I are gay and since his passing I have had about 50-60 dreams of him cheating around on my and i’m not sure if it’s him telling me to move on with my life or not, but 8 months to the day before his passing I had a brain aneurysm and was in a coma for 3 1/2 weeks and 5 days after I came out of my coma I was up walking and eating on my own, I’ve been blaming god for not taking me frist and can’t understand why he didn’t want me. I have a ton of questions but don’t have anyone to talk too and I don’t have the money to talk to a medium and that’s why i’m asking for your help.

Theresa we watch you every Sunday on TLC. Our family watches you and I love what you do and how you reach out to people. My daughter is very sensitive to the spirit realm. She can feel and empathize with the departed good and bad unfortunately. I was wondering if you have any advice on how to learn to control her abilities and harness it, cause right now it seems to be really hard for her to control her gift without it controlling her.
