Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I must say I have always been skeptical but by watching your show,you are the only person I have seen who I believe that has this gift. You are truly amazing and touch my heart many times.
I have many curiosities about the people lost on my dad’s side of the family. Also, my dog, I have seen you talk to animals. I have no idea if you can actually help me, seeing as we live far apart. I have recently lost a very important person to me. One of the four most important people to me. Her death was very unexpected and strange. i was wondering if she was ok and she was at peace. Today is 12/28/2011 and I’ve been a fan from the first day I saw your show on T.V. You left me with tears in some episodes and I really wish if you read this that you can contact me because I just want to find out if my son is at peace. I had him when i was 21yrs old and at that time I wasn’t in a good place and to this day I blame myself for his death. I’m always questioning was there something I could of done to prevent his death. He past when he was 6 months and if he was here with me today he would be 10yrs old. Theresa my mom passed away this past summer and we were not on the best of terms. I found a book of recipes she hand wrote for me I came across some notations she had written and I broke down crying. Can you tell me if this was some sort of sign from her?

Hello Teresa! It is 12-27-11 and today is the first day I have seen your show. I watch EVERYTHING psychic on TV and don’t know how I’ve missed yours. But I love it!! I love the family too. Theresa here is a funny/cool comment for you to read! My mother and I joke that we should meet because I have been surrounded by death/spirits even before I was born. The family I never met in the physical were strong-willed, hardworking, poor southern stock. You can just imagine how much they have to say!Not to mention all the friends I have had pass! So every once in a while I tell all of them to shut up and go look you up and give me a break! 🙂 So sorry about any undue anxiety! LOL!! Wishing the best anxiety-free moments you can find!
First may I say YOU are awesome! What a blessing you are to so many. As for my own situation…my my pasted 21 years ago and the day she was buried was the day my daughter (only child)was supose to be born by c-section….I had to re-schedule my daughters birthday to bury my mother. My show horse dropped over a month later from a heart attack (he was health up until then)… Then My dad died a year later. I have never recovered from my parents deaths. I live a life of saddness and deppresion and this past year I haven’t even been able to work any longer. Thank you for your gift and letting me write my concerns.
