Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I am 18 years old and extremely confused. I feel that I have a gift and that I have had it my whole life. I have discovered it after my aunt passed away and I was seven years old. I am in need of help and a sort of guidance because living in this world things like these are harder to believe and it’s even harder to believe when you experience things that other people can not relate to. I was wondering if there is a way I can set up an appointment or simply connect with you in some form or fashion to see if I really have an ability or is it simply all in my mind. I watched your show earlier today & was so touched on how ur readings are on point. I’ve never took consideration into mediums or psychics but I would love to set up an appointment with you, Im 22 yrs old & I lost my older brother when I was about 3 yrs old & I feel something missing like an explanation as to why that happened & I recently lost my grandpa who I miss so much & I have guilt in the back of my mind bcuz I lost contact wit him for several years before he passed. I just saw ur show tonight on TLC. I was very impressed. I understand that there is a one yr waiting list for a reading, so I plan to contact u very soon to arrange a mtg. 3 yrs ago, I lost a very close friend & colleague who died suddenly. At the time of her death, she was in the grip of a narcotic addiction. It has never been revealed if her death was an intentional or accidental overdose, or due to an illness. She was quite young at the time, so a sudden illness seems unlikely. It is something I think about on a daily basis. This is what I would like to explore during our session. Ur show was amazing. I was skeptical to it but for some reason yours seem so real. Im 21 years old and A little over a month ago I lost a good friend He was 20 years old and was innocently shot for protecting his brother from a robbery. His shooter was found but it brought me no closure. We had plans to meet and I spoke to him the day before he passed. We got to say I love you. But I missed his last call and didn’t get to see him or say goodbye. I would love to know if he’s ok and if he’s angry with the call that I missed or with the fact I haven’t seen him. I feel your spiritual passion………..On June 28, 2011 my father passed away in Miami Fl, I’m in AZ. I had planned a trip to see him but I didn’t make it on time. We didn’t know his wife had intentionally kept us apart until his last days him and I realized what she had done. In the end he had said he had some money he wanted to leave me, he never had a chance to give it to me nor did he send his will to me. The wife has hide the fact that he left his will and money. He felt compelled to give me this money since he never gave my mother any help raising me. I just want closure and peace. I want to let him know I am ok with it all but want him to know I am upset at his wife for being so hateful when I thought she was such a wonderful person for taking care of him, but in reality she meant to keep us apart. My father was a very soft spoken and quite person, I hope you could feel his presence. God bless you for what you do..helping others is a great gift.
Dear Mrs. Caputo, I just watched your show for the first time tonight. I think what you are doing is absolutly amazing. You have helped so many people and I was hoping you could help me get some closure after 16 years of waiting. I have been to a few psychics but none of them have ever touched on my true concern. You see my dads mom died 16 years ago this New Years Eve. I was never able to say goodbye to her and ask her why. I want to know if she is still with me and if she approves of the love of my life. My father died when I was a small child and I have so many unanswered questions. There are sometimes I feel like he is with me and so Many times I wish he were with me. He died suddenly and in a violent accident.
