Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I lost 1 sister when I was 10 and then I lost my loving brother in 1990, my Dad in 1991, my loving husband in 1994, my other brother in 2000, another brother in 2004 and my mother in 2006. I got to say goodbye to my father, but the others I did not and one was taken off life support
(I whispered in his ear goodbye) but I need to know if they are okay and together because my brothers were inseperate together and I need forgiveness from my husband which he died in a head on vehicle crash and we had words before he left. I truly believe in the paranormal and ghosts but no one has ever visitied me and I just wnt some closure. I love what you do and your show. I wish I had the ability although everyone says they wouldn’t want it but I would you are so lucky

I lost my husband on october 14 2011 just ten days before our first anniversary. It was so sudden and things were not in order for us. I am lost and have no reason to be alive any longer. theresa, my best friend of 40 years died last year, he was my 12 year old daughters god father. he was riding bikes with her at his house and when they had finished riding bikes they were walking into his house and he had a massive heart attack and died infront of her. she was tramatized. she has nitemares all the time. please help joe h
Hi Teresa i lost a daughter in 2006 and this thansk giving weekend my son was shot 4 times the doctors said he is a miracle that he should not be here but he is and i hope it was the help from his sister i just want to know if she is ok and want her to know that i really miss her and love her, she died to sudden and i feel that i didnt tell her enought that i loved her.

I watched Theresa for first time and got hooked. I am having major issues in my life and feel almost as if my guardian angels – my mother and my best friend Marci have left me and I truly need to speak with my mother. I am lost for the first time in my life and have lost sense of self and I need to hear that my mother is okay but I also need to hear that I will be as well. My mother always told it like it is and I need that now.

Hi Theresa… I can’t believe I turned on the TV and your show was on. I just lost my mom from a short illness and years ago we lost our brother and than our dad. I am so eager to know if my loved ones are together. I especially am interested in knowing if my brother was the one who met my mother. He came to me 2x just prior to my moms passing. In past yrs a medium told me that my brother was my angel. I am sure he met my mom. I just want to know if my mom is happy and at peace

I know my deal will seem less important than other peoples questions because most people contact you about there mom/dad/ brtoher etc.. but my question is about pets,to me its all the same. We lost a kitty last nite, emma is her name,we had her since a kitten and she was 12. she died curled up next to her best buddy yenko our bulldog,and beside my wife, they were all sleeping in bed. i think she passed in her sleep. (i hope)
Do pets go to the same afterlife as we do? will we see them again like we would humans? i wished i knew where she is and how she feels, and i hope shes not scared…we love our little girl.
Theresa I have been caring for my dad in my home for almost a year now he had been doing so good and suddenly last week we found him on the floor in his bedroom dead. I never got to say good bye, I don’t know what happened and just cant let go. I need to know he is ok and why did he leave us the way he did. I watch your show when it is on , and I get a kick out of you , your funny sometimes when you give your readings .. I listen to what you have to say this last show . on how you feel @ times and I get these feeling @ nite during my driving and I have seen ghost or spirts at friends house my house .. and I do talk about with my family and frends but sometimes friends think im weird..LOL..!!
