Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

in 1998 had a 21 yr old nephew who was shot in back, 05 of lost my sister who was close as my mother, in 08 lost a 24 yr old nephew to meningococcal meningites and in 2010 lost another sister and best friend. just need to know is everyone ok and if the two sisters can come threw and give their children messages.the nephew moms and grandmothers need closer . i just need to hear from my sisters.

I lost my wonderful Mom 3 years this February to emphasima,and I miss her like CRAZY!! There’s times when I come running through my door,thinking I want to call her to get advice, or just a few words of comfort….and I have to stop myself!I kept her voice on my answering system upstairs for about 2 1/2 years, just to hear her beautiful voice….until I acccidentally erased it.
I know I can’t ask for her back, as sick as she was ,and I’m SOOO blessed & thankful she lasted as long as she did (about 10 years),but my heart still cries for her. I love her SOO much! I took a week off from work when she died…..my boss finally had to gently tell me I needed to “Step back into your life….we need you”.
I still cry from time to time,still miss her terribly, and I will forever love her.
i met someone on a dating site and….he’s asked me to marry him!! I like to believe she knows, and played a part in us meeting…but, does she?I’d love to know she gives us her blessing, and is happy for us. : ) I would also LOVE to know she’s okay. healthy, happy and whole, and is planning on dancing in spirit at our wedding! Teresa, I watched your show and I just love you. Though I would love to talk to you I know from this site that you are booked for a long time. If it were ever possible though I would like to see if my mother comes through. Though I have had many dreams foretelling the future (very accurate I might add)I have not made a connection to my mother, but she has left me two messages (one on my computer)and the other at the cemetery as an EVP.I know from my own experience that when you dream is when much of your info comes through. I have just started watching your show and I find it truly comforting. I lost my husband just over 2 years ago to a suicide and there is so much unfinished business and guilt. I live in Canada and would make the trip to Long Island to find the closure I so desperately need. I will wait for an opening for as long as it takes just to know he is okay and I can move on.
