Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I watched all your shows and know our paths would never cross. I don’t know if you ever do charity work, but I hope so. Only once could I ever afford to see a medium and never felt relief. My children and I lost our loved one back in 99. None of us has ever gotten over it, He is so greatly missed by both sides of the family. Yesterday would have been his 56th birthday. I just long to hear what he has to say to us. Maybe get some closer, it not good for anyone to keep mourning. Want to know if he went to the light. He was without a doubt, the love of my life. Also my gram died awhile ago and I have a feeling that she is watching over me I would like to know if it is her or someone else.
Also my best friend’s father just passed away and her mother will not give away the old microw that is in her house for she believes that her husband is talking to her through it. Can you help her out so she can be at peace with his passing.

hey theresa my name is emily i have two sons 12 and 9 the 12 year old lost his grandma at age two and both of them lost their dad two years later and i lost my best friend which is my dad three yers ago of cancer which he fought for 29 years my 12 year old can see spirits and can feel their presents. they also lost three uncle also. i know my dad is with me and i know the boys dad and grandma,and uncles are with them and that he misses them very much. i love to watch your show i can relate i wish you could talk to my son and make him feel more at ease with talking and seeing spirits he doesn sleep at night due to the spirits he doesnt feel comfortable in his room. he sees them at school. its funny he can talk to people he doesnt know, but is scared to talk to people he knows
My mom passed away in sept 2008. I was not with her @ the time I am wondering if she see us.My sister,nieces and my youngest daughter was home when she passed away. I just want her to know how happy i am to be able to call her my mom.Please let me know if you can see her & tell her how much i miss & love her

I have never seen your show before today. I immediately went online to find out if you were available for readings. When I saw you were booked for a long time to come I decided to write this letter.
I have two family members that have passed within the last ten years. My mother passed in 2001. My issue is the guilt I carry around due to the fact that the night before Mom was found dead, I didn’t take a phone call from her. I had my son tell her I would talk to her in the morning. We were due to go to the store together the next day. I was to pick her up and take her out. In my head I ask what was she calling about? Was she not feeling well, but I didn’t let her tell me? How could I have not taken that call? At least I would have been able to talk to her before she died.
My other family member is my brother-in-law. He has been gone about six years now. My sister is having a VERY difficult time getting past his death. Her life has spiraled downward ever since. I am extremely worried about her. She needs some closure. She’s never had any kind of feeling that he is around. I don’t know if she isn’t open enough to allow herself to feel him or if he hasn’t been there. I just can’t see him not being around. Their relationship was so good at the end.
Can you please help us to be able to have some closure.

I watch your show and am looking forward to the premiere tonight. On Dec.4,2010 I lost my hubby after almost 40 years of marriage (Anniversary-April Fool’s)and since I have him buried in my yard in a small family cemetery I set up for that purpose,I just wanted to thank you for making it possible for others to experience the closure that while I haven’t found mine yet,I know that he’s here always and lets me know when I’ve done something he doesn’t like.
My kids think I’m nuts,but I’ve always felt welcome in cemeteries and enjoy the “communication” I get from those there.There are such intense emotions in them,yet they’re not threatening.I’m glad you are doing this and know that sometimes one doesn’t have a choice in whether or not to listen. I’ve had multiple experiences with the dead and wouldn’t know how not to respond when they “visit”.

Hello Theresa I am 14 years old and almost 9 years ago my dad passed away. I think my sister, mom, and I would really be greatful to talk to him again. A few years ago a song appeared on my moms and my ipod that non of us bought and it was when im gone by 3 doors down.
