Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I dont know how to say this so Im just going to put it all out there. I think my daughter and I may be some kind of psychic. I have tryed to block it all out and say I dont believe. I even told my daughter this and tryed to tell her I dont beleive her when she has felt things. But yesterday she called me crying and so upset. She told me she felt her energy being pulled from her and became very tired she told me that my dad had sat on her bed and she felt this and she felt he was there to tell her to tell my sisters and I that he was ok and that he was in heaven. I share your gift but I was always very shy until I turned I’d say 30 then I started telling people my vision oh yes I have most of mine in vision form but not all…..I’ll never forget the very vivid first one and I ask God what I was suppose to do? I dreamed I was in a car and had ran off the road and into an open filter plant and in the dream God spoke to me and said don’t whatever you do don’t roll the window of the car down because someone seen you go into the murky water and called for help! I didn’t really know what I was suppose to do
I had prayed for people all my life and they received but when it came to praying for myself nothing and I though oh no I’m going to have a wreck so I’m staying home today! after I woke up in the morning. I picked up the Spartanburg Heard Journal and on the front page it said a man dies in filter plant accident and more and then it said if he hadn’t tried to climb out of the window he would have been fine because the car had a tight suction around it and help was on the way but instead he tried to get out and when they got there he had drowned to this day I fell so bad and a bit responsible but now I know that God expects me to do pray over the visions I have so that it will be channeled to whoever. So I do that now some people think I’m a freak I can’t understand why people that go to church and know God is in the healing and helping business today just like he was 2000 years ago don’t understand that he uses people like us the average Joe to do his work just like he used the people in the bible!
It really gets hard sometimes to tell people things because they think you’re crazy but then when something happens some say I didn’t listen to you and I wish I had…….
