What happened to SPEED channel? On Aug. 17, SPEED becomes FOX Sports 1 on all major pay-TV providers. Many of the auto racing events previously airing on SPEED will now air on FS1.
On Saturday, Aug. 17, at 8am ET, SPEED will become FOX Sports 1, a new national sports network featuring live college football, auto racing, UFC, soccer, news shows and more. In most cases, the FOX Sports 1 channel will be the same channel formerly held by SPEED. Many of the auto racing events previously airing on SPEED will still air on FS1, including the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, practice and qualifying, and complementary programming like NASCAR Live. Select NASCAR Sprint Cup races will come to FS1 beginning in 2015.

This is terrible. I could not figure out why everything changed. That is one less channel to watch in my automotive man cave. I have 5 cable boxes and spend waaayyyy to much on cable. I may have to just get rid of it all out of principal….. Thanks for screwing all of us gear-heads!!!!!!

This was one of the worst things i have seen.To the jerk that thought this was a smart move, you are wrong. I have blocked fs1 on my tv , the shows that were on speed were great this channel sucks!!!
This is worse decision ever made by any corporate D-bag. You have taken off some very good shows and with some really interesting topics. Cars and motorcycles are the back bone of this country you morons. Maybe you can put on some wedgie contest on your new channel and jerk on each other’s tighty whites.
The ONLY reason I have a TV in my garage was for the SPEED channel. With only 11 Nascar races left I can deal with it and you can bet I will not watch them on FS1.
I make this prediction;
After the Football season, when they see they have lost viewers some sort of SPEED will be back.
Why would you take off a channel that was one of the best channels on TV and put some garbage channel in its place. There are millions of people that watch motor sports and they are not interested the garbage that you put in its place. BRING BACK THE SPEED CHANNEL
This really bites. So now we have another sports channel we didn’t need. That makes a lot of since. You take a channel that is like no other, and turn it into one we have to many of already. It has always been a channel surfing stop for me, but every time I go by there it is some stupid sports show or sporting event I can see on another Fox Sports channel. At least keep it devoted to the auto world. Idiots!!!
Very disappointed with the demise of speed channel. Why would Fox think their chang would increase viewership. Plenty of that B team sports stuff already on. Speed Channel was one of the few channels I always checked when channel surfing. I have yet to find anything on that new sports channel I like. In fact, I used to like the Nascar shows better than the races. I sure do miss Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain. That was one of my favorite shows. And he was able to do it without the typical eye candy so many programs now include. Now I’m forced to go HD just so I can get Velocity. As we all know, everything, and I mean everything, is driven by the dollar. Fox is obviously thinking the new sports channel will be better for them. Certainly not for me as a race fan and all the car shows I have enjoyed for so long.
