What happened to SPEED channel? On Aug. 17, SPEED becomes FOX Sports 1 on all major pay-TV providers. Many of the auto racing events previously airing on SPEED will now air on FS1.
On Saturday, Aug. 17, at 8am ET, SPEED will become FOX Sports 1, a new national sports network featuring live college football, auto racing, UFC, soccer, news shows and more. In most cases, the FOX Sports 1 channel will be the same channel formerly held by SPEED. Many of the auto racing events previously airing on SPEED will still air on FS1, including the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, practice and qualifying, and complementary programming like NASCAR Live. Select NASCAR Sprint Cup races will come to FS1 beginning in 2015.

Fox has done disservice to viewers of Speed. There are many options for baseball, football, basketball, etc. but there was only one for motor heads. FS1 will be no different than ESPN, ESPN 2, or any of the dozens of other sport channels. Speed had a monoply on motorsports, FS1 is just another sport channel. THANKS FOR NOTHING FOX.
I hate this new Fox sports. I watched speed because I want to see car shows. There are already way to damn many football, basketball and baseball shows on now. I never watch that boring crap. Hey, FUX Sports, if it ain’t broke don’t break it. You elimnate the only channel dedicated to car nuts and replace it with mainstream sports, thanks a helluva lot. If I wanna take a nap I’ll watch a ball game or NASCAR. To me, nothing is more entertaining than a road course race, from the US, Europe or Australia, that’s effing racing. I had to pay for A sports “package” that ONLY HAD ONE… (GOT THAT) ONE! channel out of 20 or so that I watched.. SPEED…. SPEED CHANNEL… Now I’m paying for nothing! WHAT THE F+CK??? I miss the small time racing on the Speed channel. It’s the fighting and football channel. The racing is mostly cars going in circles.

What the heck. I pay $100 a month for 2 channels. Speed and Velocity. I will be cancelling my cable ASAP! This is unreal. How can they be so ignorant. There are 500 other channels just like FS1.
