NEW! Is Alaskan Bush People Fake? Does It Matter?
Viewers of Discovery Channel’s Alaskan Bush People have been wondering if the four episodes of the Brown family’s adventures in the wilderness are all they’re going to get. The new show Siberian Cut takes over the Tuesday night time slot and no new episodes of Alaskan Bush People are currently scheduled.
[Update: A new episode of Alaskan Bush People, titled “The Wild Life,” premieres Sunday, June 15, at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. Based on the show’s description, it sounds like it might be a highlights/recap/additional unaired footage type of show: “After facing unparalleled obstacles, the Browns reflect on their past year of living in the Alaskan Bush while providing surprise revelations about the family’s lifestyle.”
Last seen, the Brown family suffered another setback as the boat they were using to scout a new home in southeast Alaska hit an object, took on water and sank at the dock. The family made it off the boat safely, but were left with an uncertain future.
They can’t possibly let the show end like that, can they?
Well, the news here is that there is no news. According to a Discovery Channel spokesman, the network has not announced whether or not Alaskan Bush People will be returning.
As for the Brown family, all nine of them were in Los Angeles in January for the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour and were on a panel to promote the show, which at the time was scheduled to air on Animal Planet. (So no, they didn’t starve or freeze or anything after their boat went down in Episode 4.) You can learn more about them and see some pretty interesting photos of the family at their official website. Also, do read this article by Zaz Hollander of Alaska Dispatch, who did some investigating into some of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the show that have been debated in these recaps.
At the panel, Billy Brown summed up the origin of his family’s Alaskan adventure as well as how the TV show came into existence:
“I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and my family died when I was 16, and I kind of hit the road. When Ami and I got together, we traveled all over the place, and we found that as we were going places, we never were really content where we were. We kept getting we’d go to the country, and it wasn’t really enough country. We kept getting deeper and deeper in, and then, when Alaska opened up to us, it was like a it was like a ready made home to us. And when we got up I have written children’s books for my kids and stuff and a book about my life, One Wave at a Time, and our guys went in when you go to the harbor shacks and stuff, we get Internet every once in a while, and our guys went in, Bam especially, and he put a website for the kids’ books. And through that, a guy got in touch with us, and we ended up here. And I am the one that didn’t want to come. …
This is, you know, not what we had planned. We spent 30 years of our lives trying to stay as far away from this kind of stuff as we could, and people. And we discussed it a lot, and I guess … it was Ami that really talked me into it more that we thought it would be cool if people could really see how we live because I don’t think you guys know people who really still live that way, because it’s not a movie. It’s us.”

My Family loved Alaskan Bush People. We have watched the reruns many times We want some New Episodes PLEASE. not some Trashy/Vuigar/Vile Language Program.
I called BS a while back on this show, as I do with most so called “reality TV.” If you travel with a film crew just how out in the wild are you. Deadliest catch on the other hand is as real as it gets, you can’t fake someone getting crushed by a 2000 lb crab trap and the film crew is at the same peril of the sea as the crabbers they are filming. Many so called reality shows are embellished for entertainment sake. I could care less about seeing a glimpse of a boob, or any other show of that sort, but lets call them what they are “dramatic reenactments.”
I am very dissapoined that aleskin Busch People will not be back on it is a good show but you chose to keep on naked and afraid what a bunch of BS this is the stupidest show I have ever seen what someone is waiting to see boobs or men parts on the show or what but whatever get rid of that show and put aleskin busch people back on
The Alaskan Bush People entertained me and my family.
I´m wondering why it was cancelled after just 4 episodes? I have been a loyal watcher for many years but you guys always seem to take the good shows off the air. I hope you reconsider bringing back “Alaskan Bush People” my family and I enjoyed the watching the Brown family. It truly is a shame. I think its time to search for another channel.
Bring back the Alaskan Bush Family!! They are inspiring and I love them and their distinct and interesting personalities! I keep looking for them on the schedule and no where to be found!! Forget the naked people (boring!) and bring back our Alaskan family!!
Viewers love the no cussing or a lot of sex scenes….I am getting frustrated with Discovery channel doing this..Look at Deadliest Catch….Now its females and sex…because it is supposed to hike up the “ratings” BS!!!!!!..whatever happened to good Ole’ people who don’t do that… DC you’re beginning to suck!!! Bring back Alaskan Bush People.. Whether they real or not I love the show…..
EVERY TIME YOU GET A GOOD SHOW ON DISCOVERY YOU CANCELL IT SO AFTER READING SOME OF THE COMMENTS IT LOOKS LIKE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT LIKED THE BUSH PEOPLE SO SEEMS TO ME YOU WOULD PUTTTTT IT BACK ONNNN!!! YOU TOOK OF AMERICAN CHOPPER NOW THE BUSH FAMILY WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE
I just started watching this show and was going to tell friends about it now I don’t see it scheduled
What happened to the Brown Family (Alaskan Bush People)? You keep making Naked and Afraid and cancel Alaskan Bush People. Seriously! Who watches a couple of naked people running around in the wild and not knowing what in the world they are doing? Certainly not me. I started to watch it when it first came on but didn’t even finish the first episode. Who decides what we watch? Maybe you should listen to the viewers. If this is all that the Discovery Channel has to offer, then I won’t be watching. And to think that this was one of my favorite channels. Please bring back the Brown Family.
My husband and I were so hoping that the Alaskan Bush People would be renewed for another season. This is an excellent educational show and we thoroughly enjoyed learning about their different way of life. We found the show by accident and I’m sure a lot of people don’t know about the show. The network really needs to reconsider and renew this wholesome reality show for another season. It’s much better than some of the other “junk” that’s airing.
Where are the Alaskan Bush People? I want them back on Discovery. I love this show and family. What is going on?
One of the better shows sence the Walton, and they don’t want to bring it back. Discovery Channel is one of my favorite ones and they going to do that. Some people may not know about it to get ratings, I found it by luck. Sure hope they think more on it and bring it back.
I have Comcast. They don’t have this tv show on demand so you can’t watch a previous episode. But……Naked and Afraid? No problem. All the episodes are on demand. Maybe the nakedness sells.
when is Alaskan bush people coming back on tv?????
I watched the reruns. Its a good show. What did discovery channel do to them? If its bad boycott the channel.
The Alaskan Bush series’ was one of the best show’s on , me and my wife really enjoyed watching the Brown family the sad part is the good shows always seem to get cancelled and they always end up putting on stupid shows like honey boo boo or some other crappy show, why cant they keep the good family shows on?
We are disgusted with our former favorite channel discovery! Billy Brown’s, the bush family didn’t deserve the treatment it received. Look how long it has been and we are so sad from missing them!!! They were the best new Alaskan show to come on air. Their kids are a real hoot. Some channel step up and pick up this fine entertainment, please!!!
Is it coming back or not? Simple question, yes or no!
Vicky Smith asked a question that thousands of Discovery viewers would also like the answer.
WELL, you can’t answer that . Because you failed that innocent (to the world) family.
Just like the dedicated Discovery Channel Show watcher, I expected more from the channel. And we deserve more from you now. We as dedicated watchers would like to hear more than silence. At least let us know that these wonderful people are together and being re-established back into a tranquil home life. Paid for by Discovery Channel. After all, Discovery caused this problem and they should fix it. Unless Discovery won’t take responsibility for their problem making skills.

I guess there was not enough cussing and drinking and violence to suit the network. Probably put some gay/lesbian show on to take it’s place.
Steve, sounds like your in the 98% douch catagory. i think your jelous cause you know that the Browns could whoop your ass when it comes to survivning in the wilderness.if you hate the show so much dont watch it!?stop hateing Steve
