Networks launch apps for iPad

The buzz and excitement continues to build over Apple’s launch of its new iPad tomorrow. Several networks are already touting the apps that they are making available for this latest must-have device. ABC, Disney & ESPN * ABC will have an ABC Player app that enables users to watch full episodes of ABC programming on their iPad. GolTV seeks the next big soccer star

From GolTV: MIAMI – April 1, 2010 — GolTV, the nation’s only independent bilingual channel delivering the most sought-after international fútbol, has secured exclusive U.S. TV rights for the first international soccer reality TV series Soccer Aces.  All contestants will be judged by soccer legends Zinedine Zidane and Enzo Francescoli.  Soccer Aces will travel the world to give up-and-coming soccer players a shot at the big leagues. The show will hold its only U.S. tryout in Houston on April 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Houston Baptist University.

PBS is first major broadcaster to debut full-length doc on Facebook

From PBS: American Experience will host a premiere broadcast of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival Closing Night Film, Earth Days, from acclaimed documentarian Robert Stone on Facebook Platform. The 102-minute film honors the origins of the first Earth Day, which took place 40 years ago this April. The online screening, scheduled for Sunday, April 11 at 8:00 p.m ET, represents the first time a major broadcaster has premiered a full-length documentary on Facebook Platform ahead of its national broadcast. Earth Days is scheduled on the PBS series American Experience on Monday, April 19 at 9 p.m.
