By RabbitEars Celebrities Jewel and Nancy O’Dell have been forced to drop out of the new season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, which begins this Monday, due to injuries sustained while training for the competition. Jewel was diagnosed with a fractured tibia in both legs, while O’Dell suffered a torn meniscus in her knee. Both stars will appear on the season premiere episode to address their injuries. “When the doctors told me my injuries were so severe that I couldn’t walk, let alone compete, I was devastated that I couldn’t continue the show,” says Jewel. “I have every intention […]
By ButtonKnows Got an ugly bridesmaid dress? Of course you do! If you’re an adult female, ya probably got a stable of ’em cowering in the back of your closet or a box in the basement. The first family of reality TV is back in action as FOX announced the return of Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly Osbourne in a new special called Osbournes: Reloaded, airing March 31 on the network, to be followed by more one-hour specials later in the season. Unlike their previous MTV series, this program is not a “day in the life” look at the Prince of Darkness and his clan, but is more like a bizarre, and certainly better, updating of those Brady Bunch variety specials from the ’70s, complete with comedy bits, music and interaction with a studio audience (although […]
By ButtonKnows I know me some Fleetwood Mac and I love me my Stevie Nicks. So much so that my purse is crafted (by Karla of Chicago’s “Bagitude,” not me and some duct tape) of an actual Rumours album cover in homage to the multiple discs I wore out and replaced. And I still wish I would have tried a little harder to convince my only daughter’s dad to let me name her Rhiannon. A little, anyway. So fellow fanatics, let me spare you some opening-credit sweats — the Stevie Nicks that appears on Chris Isaak’s retro-cool sofa in Thursday […]
By RabbitEars As one of my colleagues has said here regularly about One Tree Hill, “the slippery slope never ends” for certain franchises with proven staying power among the younger set. And nothing has been as big in recent years as Disney’s High School Musical series of films. The soundtrack to the first film was the No. 1 album of 2006, and the DVD of the movie was the No. 1 TV movie on DVD. Even more astounding to me, High School Musical 2 became — and remains — the No. 1 basic cable telecast of all time. The third […]
If you saw the astonishing natural history series Planet Earth a few years back, you’ll be happy to know that the BBC and Discovery Channel have teamed on a similar new series, premiering in May. Nature’s Most Amazing Events is a six-part high-definition series filmed over the course of two years that chronicles breathtaking natural events that take place across our planet, and which are triggered by seasonal and climate changes — from the flooding of the Okavango Delta in Africa to the great summer melt of ice in the Arctic. In addition to following Planet Earth‘s example of showcasing […]
