Dance Moms recap Season 4 episode 7: Bite Me

Couple things right out of the gate, Dance Moms nation. Today’s recap will be screen-capture-free, because the events of its last twenty minutes are currently a matter of litigation in the New York City courts, so no press screeners were made available. So much the better if you ask me. There’s not much that happened this evening that I’d care to commemorate in pictures or in words. In light of the weekend’s news of Maryen Lorrain Miller’s death, I was really hoping we might have something, anything I could write positively about — even though I knew better from the […]

Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller loses mom Maryen Lorrain Miller to cancer

Maryen Lorrain Miller, the elegant, soft-spoken mom of Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, February 8. The sad news was posted on the Abby Lee Dance studio web site, after Abby Lee Miller took to Instagram to announce her mother’s passing. The tribute on the ALDC web site reads as follows: Maryen Lorrain Miller, the lady who started it all, was born on August 6, 1927 to Terrance & Marion McKay in Greenfield, PA. She graduated from St. Rosalia’s Catholic School where Martha Davies opened the doors to dance. At 18, she relocated […]

Dance Moms recap Season 4 episode 6: The New Adventures of Old Chloe

Welcome back, Dance Moms nation. Did everyone have a nice week? Did everyone recover from the delicious emotional overload that was At Last? Did everyone see my near miss at a job offer in the comments section of last week’s blog? (Psssst, Abs, if that actually was you, have your people call my people about the sequel. Just give me a couple minutes to, you know, get some people.) • RELATED: Abby Lee Miller loses mom Maryen Lorrain Miller to cancer On with the show. We start out in the studio, where Abby’s got a little mall-bang thing going on […]

Dance Moms Season 4 episode 5 recap : The Next Right Thing

Let me just get this out of the way right now, Dance Moms Nation, since I have been doing a horrible job of keeping you current on all of the legal crap between Abby and Kelly (because I could not care less about all of the legal crap between Abby and Kelly). I actually did inquire into Abby’s reported engagement — because I think Dance Moms Wedding Special would breathe some kind of new life right into me where Dance Moms is concerned. OK, so I actually asked the show’s saintly publicist Theresa if she had, you know, any bridesmaid […]

Dance Moms Season 4 episode 4 recap: Party Poopers

Hi, honeys! I’m home! No idea what I missed in last week’s actual Dance Moms episode — but it looks like maybe a new opener and Payton landing herself on crutches are top of the heap? Looks like we were also the overall high-scoring group, but outside of that, things were no good. As in “It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye” not good, according to Abby. Someone lost an eye?! Maybe I need to watch after all, because Abby doesn’t explain. Or you guys could tell me what happened in the comments section below. That would […]

Dance Moms cancer special recap: Dance Moms Cares

Yes, I know. I told you I’d be skipping school this week, but it’s the Dance Moms cancer special and I’m a breast cancer survivor, myself, so I can hardly bail out on this one, now can I? Plus, it was actually a feel-good episode, despite its serious subject matter, so let’s celebrate that, too. We start out at Abby’s house, where she is having a chat with her 86-year-old mom Maryen Lorrain Miller, who looks lovely given her serious health issues. Abby tells her that the girls are off to Starbound in Atlantic City because it’s a benefit for […]

Dance Moms recap Season 4 episode 2: No, YOU shut up!

Welcome back, Dance Moms nation. You all sure had a lot to say about the crab-assery that was the Season 4 premiere! Speaking of which, a very bouffant-y Abby wastes no time in reminding the assembled Pitt Crew that one day they were national champions, the next, third-place nothings. Makes her want to replace the whole team. This week, it will be first place or else. Especially since we’re heading off to the land of the Apples — Columbus, Ohio — to the Believe Talent competition. And she’s sure that Cathy’s been working for weeks on a winning routine. Let’s […]

Dance Moms Season 4 premiere recap: Same old song and dance

Has everyone refreshed their beverages and their munchies and their Advil and their special crying pillowcases and whatever else we might need to get through the next hour New Year’s Day Dance-Moms-a-palooza? Good. Let the Season 4 premiere begin. After a quick highlight reel of all of the ridiculata that went down in Season 3, as promised in the preview, we open with the revelation that everyone is back for Season 4, including Payton and Leslie, despite the street brawl in New Orleans. Thalia and Jennifer, from last hour’s special, are not. Because we have not been beaten about the […]

Dance Moms recap: The Smoke Before The Fire

Welcome back, Dance Moms fans. Did everyone have a nice holiday? A happy New Year’s Eve? A happy New Year’s Day … thus far? One that you’re willing to sacrifice to all the arguing that is surely about to entail? Or maybe you have a raging headache from too much celebrating that you doubt could possibly be made worse by what happens here. You’re about to find out, because here we go. We start with an incredibly lovely group number called “Just Be” which I would love from start to finish except for the part where 3/4 of the way […]

Dance Moms Season 4 premiere first look

It’s still a few weeks before the Dance Moms Season 4 premiere episode “Welcome Back … Now Don’t Get Too Comfy,” but Lifetime has offered up a sneak peek at what it calls the “Top 3 Moments from Season 4.” It’s hard to imagine they are anything remotely close, but just in case — here you go: Perhaps the biggest surprise is that when the competition team members and their mothers reconvene at the ALDC, Payton and Leslie Ackerman are among them — even after Leslie’s and Christi’s New Orleans street brawl in the Season 3 finale. Well, she’s back […]
