Project Runway Season 11 gets supersized

According to a press release from Lifetime, the final 3 episodes of Project Runway will be ‘supersized.’  So instead of 1.5 hours of the show every Thursday, fans will be treated to 2 hours of the show. But before we get ahead of ourselves, we need to go from the top 5 down to the top 4 in tonight’s episode. This could be a good thing with more drama, more seeing how designers work & create. Or, it could be bad with more mentions of ‘HP Touchscreen’ and ‘Lexus’ and even more ‘technology suite, brought to you by the folks […]

Dance Moms Season 3 Episode 14 recap: Cathy Major, Asia Minor

Quick prayer to launch this week’s recap, Dance Moms nation, because I feel it is required. At least for me. Dear sweet Jesus and the gods of dance, please let this Asia thing I know is coming be a one-or-two-episode Asia thing I know is coming, because I cannot handle any more than that of Kristie Ray. I just cannot. Otherwise, grant unto me some Asia/Kristie fans who can nicely explain why I should become one. And the part where the kid is 7 doesn’t count. The part where Yvette Walts is not here to turn Kristie into Pokey McChestbump […]

America’s Most Wanted canceled by Lifetime

Looks like America’s Most Wanted is no longer wanted by Lifetime. After a 44-episode run on the woman-centric network, which acquired AMW from it’s original network home Fox in 2011, the show’s executive producer/host John Walsh and its distributor Twentieth Television opted to make the show’s recent absence from the Lifetime schedule a permanent one. In its 25-season run, Americas Most Wanted contributed to the capture of more than 1,200 fugitives around the globe, including 36 during its brief Lifetime run. Fox canceled the series briefly in 1996 but revived it soon after when politicians and law enforcement officials from […]

Dance Moms Season 3 episode 13 recap: Rak and Roll!

I would like to begin today’s Dance Moms recap by saying this: I have an officially licensed Dance Moms Abby Lee Miller “Bobblehips Figure” and you don’t. OK, maybe you do, since they are for sale right here for a mere $24.95. But the point is, I have one and it’s my new prized possession — at least for today — so there. Which puts me in a very good mood. Here she is making friends with Finger Zombie, who is my other prized possession. You’d think that after last week’s run of winning performances and victories over Cathy (and […]

Dance Moms Season 3 episode 12 recap: Everything’s Coming Up Rosa

And it’s another two-hour marathon, Dance Moms nation. Everybody strapped in for the ride? We’re goin’ on the bus! As we begin, Abby says she’s trying to figure out what they need to do to regain their former first-place mojo. Easy, Abby. Stop cosponsoring the competitions. Then she takes a swipe at Maddie for not finishing first, as well, and goes right on into the pyramid. [EDITOR’S NOTE: For those of you new to these recaps, I kinda do these pyramids backward and report them the way Abby uncovers the photos. So we’re basically climbing the ladder, so to speak.] […]

Dance Moms Season 3 episode 11 recap: Don’t Ask, Don’t Yell

Here’s the good news, Dance Moms faithful. We had two hours to fill tonight and, once again, a decent portion of it was a pretty good time. Flirty, happy Abby. Booze-a-riffic moms. Another “Invitational featuring the Abby Lee Dance Studio” competition — this time in Minneapolis — so I can attribute all the losing to the part where you can’t really invite a bunch of people to your party and then win all the door prizes. I think I’m sensing a theme/business deal here in Season 3 — but whatever. Even if it was our party last week in Jersey, too, […]

Restless Virgins premieres March 9 on Lifetime

True-life scandal meets John Hughes-esque teen tribulations in Lifetime’s newest original film, Restless Virgins, which premieres tomorrow night, March 9, at 8pm ET/PT. The film stars Switched at Birth stars Vanessa Marano and Max Lloyd-Jones, and The West Wing’s Timothy Busfield. Though Restless Virgins is based on an actual 2005 sex scandal at suburban Boston’s prestigious Milton Academy, and framed on the 2007 expose Restless Virgins: Love, Sex, and Survival at a New England Prep School, the film’s executive producer Michael Roiff told the Boston Globe that the script rejiggers the actual events enough to make this a fictional story. […]

Dance Moms Season 3 Episode 10 recap: Loves Me, Loves Me Not

So I went on a little fact-finding mission this weekend, Dance Moms faithful. I actually attended a three-day dance competition. Applause Talent’s regional dealie in Madison, Wisconsin, where my beautiful niece competed with her studio, Ignite Dance. Here are some of the things I learned. There are way too many dances at these things. I have no idea how the judges keep who’s who and what’s what straight from solo No.1 to large group No. 403. I suspect it has something to do with the tablet computers in front of them. And the little microphones into which they jabber incessantly […]

Dance Moms Season 3 episode 9 recap: The Tears And A Clown

Well, Dance Moms fans, we already know from last week’s preview that this episode’s going to be a tough one for any number of reasons, so I’m glad we get to the toughest right out of the gate. As we get underway, everyone files into the studio but Abby. Christi is hoping that Teacher skipped class so they get extra recess — but Abby appears and tearfully reveals that Broadway Baby succumbed to kidney failure the night before. Now I am the world’s biggest sucker for animals and the world’s biggest believer in the power of pets to comfort and […]

Dance Moms Season 3 episode 8 recap: Friendship Not

This week on Dance Moms, Cathy, Abby and Jill are all cellmates in a New Jersey minimum-security women’s prison after the “sprinkle sprinkle whack the star” brawl back in Voorhees. Nah, they’re not. But it would have made for a great episode, isn’t that right, Dance Moms faithful? Beyond Scared Straight: Voorhees. Actually it’s just another day at the studio, where Christi is still missing and the other mothers are discussing it. They don’t get to discuss for too long, because look who’s marching back to war. On the lobby side of the dressing room door, this happens. Someone has mastered […]
