“Dance Moms”: Chloe’s audition tape, finale fallout and a teensy teaser for Season 2

Even though Dance Moms’ domineering diva Abby Lee Miller swore to Reality TV World that the production company for the jaw-dropper hit auditioned moms only and the kids came aboard untested, today her co-star Christi Lukasiak tweeted a link to what she says is Chloe’s (perfectly adorable) audition tape for the series: • MORE: Read Channel Guide’s exclusive interview with Dance Mom Christi Lukasiak!

Lifetime is casting families for new reality show “America’s Supernanny”

By Lori Acken Follow @ChannelGuideLLA With legendary Supernanny Jo Frost now retired from naughty steps, passy fairies and the stay-in-bed technique to focus on a family of her own, Lifetime has decided it’s time America had a brand new tot-tamer. After what the network calls “an exhaustive search and numerous casting calls,” Lifetime has tapped Virginia-based wife, mom and highly-educated early-childhood specialist Deborah Tillman to fill the bill and take over the sensible suits, comfy footwear and surefire techniques of America’s Supernanny.

Dance Moms finale: And it’s Chloe for the win!

By Lori Acken Follow @ChannelGuideLLA I knew it! I said! Way back in episode …well, whatever episode it was where the Big New York Casting Agent came! I said this: “So now that I’ve accepted this new reality in this new reality show, I feel equally secure in tossing this prediction: Despite the fact that she has done nothing but dance joyfully, express her love for her peers and look splendid in an inappropriate pile of brown eye-shadow — Maddie is about to get her comeuppance at the hands of Chloe. I say this for several reasons. One, because that would make […]

More of our interview with Jeanne Tripplehorn, star of Lifetime’s breast cancer anthology “Five”

When I picked up the phone to interview Jeanne Tripplehorn about her pivotal role in Five — Lifetime’s star-saturated film anthology that is the showpiece of its long-running “Stop Breast Cancer For Life” initiative — it was Tripplehorn who began asking questions. “They sent me some information,” she said of the PR folks at Lifetime who connected us. “You are a breast cancer survivor?” I told her I am. “Congratulations!” said the actress, who plays Pearl, an oncologist whose mother’s death inspired her to specialize in breast cancer — and who is the one character that ties all five films […]

The film, which stars Hayden Panettiere as Knox and Marcia Gay Harden as her mother, will air on Lifetime Movie Network Thursday at 10pm and Friday at 2am, and on Lifetime Network at 10pm on Saturday, Oct. 8. “Dance Moms” episode 11: bad dad, Abby mad!

Are you getting melancholy about next week’s season finale, Dance Mom nation? Or has news of a second season warmed your heart? In any case, I’m pretty sure last night’s episode set us up for some of what we’ll see in Season 2. Namely a big pile of Maddie drama. We begin in beautiful Lake Tahoe, site of the much anticipated Nationals, where the girls frolic (i.e. bend themselves in thirds backward)  in the sunshine and fresh mountain air — and Abby Lee is suddenly sporting an on-purpose hairdo and department store make-up in her “confessionals.” Also pearls. We […]

Jeanne Tripplehorn talks about the making of Lifetime’s breast cancer anthology “Five”

On Oct. 10, Lifetime will unveil the newest effort in its 17-year-old “Stop Breast Cancer for Life” initiative — one that may be, according to the network’s president and GM Nancy Dubuc, “the most important film we’ve ever done.” Simply titled Five, the anthology features, yes, five emotional, frequently funny and complexly interwoven short films about women dealing not only with the physical effects of breast cancer and their ensuing treatments, but also a part of the diagnosis often left undiscussed — how such a deeply personal disease affects their sense of self, how they relate to others and how […]

“Dance Moms” Episode 10: There are no real winners here

By Lori Acken Follow @ChannelGuideLLA Forgive me for saying it, but God bless Cathy Nesbitt-Stein. For if it were not for her and her rosy-red dreams of revenge-steeped glory, this episode of Dance Moms — “Cathy Brings It On!” — may have become too depressing to watch. In a genuinely depressing depressing sort of way — not in the incredulous, “this cannot possibly be happening” camptacular sort of way of the first nine episodes. In a tense, tired, beaten-down moms, tinderbox Abby, pins-and-needles children, “can anybody possibly leave here saying hooray for anything about Hollywood?” sort of way.
