Tease campaign for TNT’s new “Dallas” references original series’ “dream” season

TNT has revealed the tease campaign for its new series Dallas, which premieres June 13 and catches us up with what several original members of the Ewing clan, as well as its next generation, are up to. The steamy campaign artwork flashes back to one of the most iconic scenes from Dallas history — and one of the silliest moments in TV history — when, in a May 1986 cliffhanger episode, Pam (Victoria Principal) awakens one morning to find her supposedly dead husband Bobby (Patrick Duffy, who returns in the new series) alive and well in the shower. When Dallas […]

Watching the NCAA Tournament in Las Vegas

It wouldn’t be March without the madness of the NCAA college basketball tournament, and I admit I never thought there would be anything more exciting than attending these games in person. Until this week. I had the pleasure of being in Las Vegas yesterday for the first 16 games of the second round, and I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. Thousands upon thousands of sports fans descend upon Sin City with the hope of riding the play of college athletes to financial glory. Being a giant sports fans but not a savvy gambler, I showed up to […]

2012 NCAA Tournament TV schedule

Click here for the 2012 NCAA Tournament TV Schedule Which will it be this year: an NCAA men’s basketball tournament dominated by the high seeds or a tournament with brackets busted by the underdogs? The tournament’s script seems to ebb and flow between the two extremes in recent years, with the strongest (2008) and the weakest (2011) Final Four fields in history happening in only a three-year span. Historically, if you add up the seeds of Final Four teams, you typically get a number between eight and 11. A look at recent tournaments reveals how much that number has fluctuated: […]

2012 NBA All-Star TV schedule

The 61st All-Star Game brings the NBA’s best to Orlando’s Amway Center for the annual East vs. West exhibition. The spectacle is essentially a nightmare for anyone who appreciates defense; the West beat the East 148-143 in last year’s game. (But seriously, who wants to see defense?) Despite the late start of the season due to the lockout, the NBA All-Star rosters were assembled after each team played only about 20 games. But still, you’ll find most of the game’s big names. And, yes, there’s even going to be a Jeremy Lin appearance. The Knicks’ sudden star will play in […]

Jeremy Lin and the Knicks on national TV

By now you’ve all heard about the New York Knicks’ Jeremy Lin and the “Linsanity” that’s hit America over the past week or so. But many have not actually seen Lin in action as the Knicks haven’t been on national TV since they played the Lakers last Friday (and some people in New York haven’t been able to see him). Interestingly, ESPN had originally scheduled Hornets at Knicks for Friday, Feb. 17 at 8pm ET, but then flexed that game out in favor of Dallas at Philadelphia. Oops. But the Knicks will get the national TV spotlight on Sunday, Feb. […]

Justin Bieber, Cee Lo Green and Jennifer Hudson headline TNT’s “Christmas in Washington”

Many people would spend a lot money to see Justin Bieber, Jennifer Hudson or Cee Lo Green alone in concert. But because this is the giving season, TNT will feature all three singers in what should be one of best Christmas in Washington concerts ever. Hosted by TBS/TNT posterchild Conan O’Brien, the annual special airing tonight (8pmET) will also showcase the talents of Victoria Justice and The Band Perry. What makes this show unique in a TV landscape with entirely too many holiday shows is that it takes place in the nation’s capital at the National Building Museum. This is […]

TNT releases new extended “Dallas” trailer

TNT has released a new extended trailer for its updated Dallas series, which premieres next summer and continues the exploits of the Ewing family of Southfork, the oil dynasty first made famous in the classic primetime soap of the 1980s. In addition to scenes from the new series, the trailer includes some thoughts from cast members (including returning favorites like Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy). It’s also nice to see, at least for the purposes of the trailer, that some of the original series’ classic title theme music has been retained.

By Barb Oates Follow @ChannelGuideBO TNT will pay tribute to Steve Jobs, who died yesterday, by re-airing their 1999 Emmy-nominated film Pirates of Silicon Valley at 8pmET and 10pmET tonight. Below are extracts from our original review that ran in our June 1999 issue and comments from Noah Wyle on playing Jobs in the film. Wyle originally turned down the role of Steve Jobs saying: “I wanted to focus on ER. It’s a pivotal year for the show and I didn’t want to take on anything in addition to the part of Dr. Carter. But then Martyn Burke sent me […]
