Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi Theresa, thought I might make a suggestion to you about taping. I found an app called audio memos that I use on an ipad, this could tape small waves and e-mail them to a client. I know how hard it was to transform from a tape like you use to e-mail but people are loving this idea. I always used the tapes and machine like yourself over 25 years. Just thought if you did not know this I might help in making this suggestion. I see you help a lot of people and that is great, love you for that. You helped a cousin of mine once. Thought I help you.

I have lost my life partner after 25 years and I have so many questions , we have a 20 yeal old son and bith of us cannot comes to terms with our loss, it is almost 2 years. She was everything to us and I mean everything. We miss her in such a way that I cannot describe it in words.

Theresa I am from Abilene, Tx. and have been wanting for going on four years now to be back with my father, who passed 3 days before my daughters birthday. My children are real young an only my oldest who was 5 yrs at the time actually knew him. None of us kids or grandchildren knew he was ill. I wish he was here when I have no way out, since he was always my shield. I still do not go a day without thinking or him or crying. I never had closer with this its like it was yesterday when it happened, his death was shocking n sudden to me an my kids since we lived in another state when it happen. I am completely in awww of your incredible gift and I dream almost daily of the things I have no knowledge of, but im sure exist in my world past and present. When I watch your show I know when spirits are channeling you from when you begin to “move your lips” back and forth I begin to get anxious myself because I begin to get excited to see who is going to come into a reading from you. I love the bond between you and your family and your husband who is such a trooper I love you all. I am 41 y.o. single mom of three beautiful girls and I have carried the burden around of not knowing my father my entire life and then loosing the love of my life my girls father in 2005 to sleep apnea while driving. There are so many instances that I feel him through spirit and through my children at the most un expected times, it brings me tears every time.
