Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

We lost our son April 7th 2013 he had heart problems from birth.He had three heart operations and valves put in and taking out.But we lost him to a bacteria that got in his body some way and shut everything down.We got him to the hospital and he went to sleep we never got to talk to him.they air lifted him to Boston by the time me and my wife got there the doctors told us we would not be taking him home this time.We sat at his side all night and no matter what they did it didn’t work at 6.30 am our son left us for good and we don’t know if he knew we where there or not.There are so many things we would like to find out because this was something we weren’t ready for we just thought he had a bug or something.If it had been his heart we would have understood we were ready for that.He lived with us and now after 42 of taking care of him there is nothing left for me and my wife to do. Hi Teresa . I have lost so many people in my family that I took care of in my home . I lost my husband 2 yrs ago . I have always had depression and when my husband passed it has only gotten worse. I have so much guilt and feel like I could have done more for him . I have 2 daughters and 1 grandson and I don’t feel I can be what they need . Dear Teresa, I would like to help my mom out. It’s been 4 years since my grandma has passed and there’s not a day that my mom doesn’t let her go. She took care of her mom till the last days of her life. She feels guilty for not helping her when none of us knew she was very ill. My mom is the only child and feels lonely. Hi Theresa: I am a big fan of yours because of how you help people feel better about their lives. I am someone who suffers from depression. Many things go through my mind at times and they can weigh me down. I have carried a burden of hate and anger which are the result of an incident 23 years ago when I almost died at the hands of someone else, someone I knew very well. I had buried it for so long and a year ago it surfaced unexpectedly because of a second incident involving this same person. There is someone who has been gone a long time and I would love to be in touch with them about this situation. They would know because this person is very wise and they had a special insight about life. Would you be able to tell me how I can reach this person? It would make a difference in how I live the rest of my life, because I know I must get past this!

I am now a principal at an elementary school in Texas. However, I was a teacher for 13 years. During that time, one of my best friends was another teacher. She had melanoma and was cancer free for ten years. I admired her so much and her strength. Her husband got a new job that resulted in their move to Chicago. We stayed in touch for awhile but it abruptly stopped after several years. I even had to conact her husband’s email so I could see how she was doing. To my surprise, her cancer reoccurred and she passed away. I found out through a friend. My heart is so heavy with what appened and I did not resolve the issue before she passed away. I want her to know that I love her and understand what happened with our relationship.
