Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi I live on a farm that my parents bought before my dad died. After my dad died I lost my way to talk to the other side. The farm I live on has so many people coming and going. I have seen a hooded figure standing in the dinning room. I have seen upper parts of people floating around in the living room. Ever since I had to move to the farm to help take care of my mom. My life has been a living nightmare. I had a great job making good money. Now I am dirt poor with a house that has a leaky roof and the outside walls are crumbling. It seems bad luck has taken over this house. What can I do? I tried just about everything.

Theresa, My daughter has always watched you and she has recently gone to live with her dad. My life is very sad without her, I lost my mom in February, my best friend for 58 years, lost my brother last year he ws 65 years old. My oldest son in the U.S in Chicago and my middle son is here in Toronto but don’t see him too much. I miss everyone so much, I am feeling I have lost everything. My dad is in nursing home and I have lost him as well as he has Altzheimers. I would love to know my mom is ok and with my brother. I miss them so much.

Hi my name is Michele Munda originally from Port Washington, NY. I presently live in PA. My mom passed away 5 years ago.. suddenly at 70 years old. She fell broke her hip and suffered a stroke. It was beyond life changing for my family. My dad and her were married for 51 years..teenage sweethearts that were told they couldn’t be together but gave up everything for love. They challenged their families but knew that their love was real and got married. They had 4 daughters, me being the youngest. I had the best mom ever.. she was abandonded and lived a tough life but she gave her shirt off her back for her children. There is no love in the world then that of my mom. She was strong, funny and determined. I am thankful that I am a part of her. My reason for contacting you is not only for me but for my Dad.. He is the most gentle, loving soul in the world. Everyone that knows him or meets him just falls in love with him. He has guilt that he wasn’t able to help her or love her the way he thinks he should have. I would to have a reading with Theresa Caputo, I live close enough to drive to Long Island. I have lost 4 family members in a relative short time my mom, dad, and two aunts not to mention 3 cousins one being 12 years old. The most recent is my aunt Pat who was fine on a Sunday and by Friday night she had passed and no one seems to know why or how I would love to talk to Theresa, as I talked to my aunt pat daily and it happened so fast, that I would do just about anything to have a reading with Theresa. I did attend one of Theresas events in Trenton at the Sun Bank Building and paid 400 dollars for the ticket I sat in the front row and was thrilled to see her walk across the floor in front of the audience, also very frustrated because all of the reading were way back in the upper rows and watched her on a tv screen. Dear Theresa, All of my life of 76 years, I have been obsessed to find out about my birth mother..who died at my birth..she lived only one hour after my birth in 1936..when she passed away her sister Clara raised me…I also had a sister Maxine who was a toddler back then and I was told she kept looking for her mother and could not find but went to Aunt Marie who remained childless until she came along..Marie was had cold ole German lady..my sister never married..but I did and have 5 children..to my way of thinking I always wondered what our birth mother would have thought if she knew she was raised by Aunt Marie…I just wonder what she was like and I never got a substantial answer other than the fact she was a fun loving lady..Memorial Day we always went to the cemetery and I would look into the crack of the ground to see if I could see her..thats how important this was to me all of my life…what you think…??

I have seen your show on TLC. It is such a wonderful way of giving clarity to the people who have lost their loved ones.
I have a burden that I am sure you would provide clarity for me. My mother passed on by a car accident in the year 2000, Saturday March 21st.
On that day, she phoned me to ask me to travel to Arusha, she had something she wants to tell me. I promised her I would go on the following Friday. Unfortunately, things did not happened as we agreed. I am still asking myself about what was my mother concern.
Please assist me to get clarity.
