Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi I’m Casey, im 13 year old. Not long ago i lost my Dad’s best friend. He is a 2nd dad to me. Him and my dad had know’n eather other for 30 years. He calls my grandma mom. My dad when to school with him. It hurt me to wright this but he passed in January 2013. He was married for 13 years and just has a 14 month old daughter named peyton. His name is Gary Perry. He passed in a car crash with a 18 wheeler. He was killed on empact. He was on his way home from huston texas. Thr crash happend in ennis texas. My dad tryed calling Gary at 6pm and he never answed the phone. Then about 45 minutes latter my dad got a call from Garys phone. My dad answed and said ” Hey gary” then someone else answed the phone. The guy on Garys phone said ” Umm im sorry but this person is deseced” thats the first time i have every saw my dad cry. He had to tell his wife. It really hurt my dad bc he never new that last saturday was the last time he would see Gary. My heart stoped for a minute when he told me. My grandma almost passed out. The next sunday we went to the veiwing of Gary. Me and little brother hugged and cry. My littke brother is ten and Gary was his buddy. My dad woulsnt look at his body he just could’nt say goodbye to his brother. The closed he got to the casket wasnto be a pole bear. (Sorry if i spelled that rong im crying so hard i cant think) I would love to have are family be read for Gary but we have no money we can even pay bills half the time. Id like to know that hes still ith us and hes looking over us. Just let him know that we re till with hi nd we will ALWAYS love him he will been in are heart FOREVER!
My daughter and i have bought tickets to your show on November 7, 2013 in Corpus Christi, Texas. I hope our love ones spirit comes to you so we can have some closure. If not just listening and learning from others would be just as comforting. Thank You and you family.
Love your show, I have had 3 people in my life who have passed come back to me , One has not my dad committed suicide 6 yrs ago still waiting… Love to know why… will keep watching your show as long as on tv.. and tell Larry very nice looking man you are truly blessed with your family.

My sisters daughter passed away in May 2007 .She is still not over this as well as her husband. Angel was her oldest child who had alot of diffitculity in her life. In the last 10 years of her life she lost her own child and almost became like one herself. We all need to know if Angel is around and if she meant to do what she did that ended her life.

Hi Theresa, I’m from South Africa. I watch your show and I think what you doing is amazing. I need you please help me connect with my sister who passed on in April 2010 mysteriously.
