Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

This was an update to what TLC previously provided (Longislandmedium@gmail.com). That email address we have tried and have never gotten a response. Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Theresa I watch your show every wk! I tvo your shows and rewatch them over and over! I wish I could run into you on the street somewhere! I live in Ca so io don’t see that happening! I truly wish I could speak with you one day and get a reading! I have lost many family members in my life! My son to be one of them! This month he would be going on 6 yrs old! Dear Theresa I watch your show every week. You are a truly gifted psychic medium, its such a gift from God.My ex husband Louie overdosed at a connections house two days after I told him I couldn’t handle his drug abuse anymore and that God had so much love for him and I would always be his best friend , this was 2 days before he died. The police said they found him on the floor of this womans house.The coroner said he was on the kitchen floor 12 hrs. dead.He had called me the days he was gone at her house. I didn’t answer or even listen to the messages because I needed to stay away from the darkness of his lifestyle.I love this man and am haunted by not knowing how he actually died and if he is at peace. Everyone had turned their back on him, no family or real friends but me and my children. I forgive him all he did and hope he is at peace, it has been 11 yrs since his passing. I have no money for a reading as I am on SSI and also help my daughter with her special needs twins. Maybe a phone reading I could afford after saving for a couple months. I wish I could have helped Louie more but it was bringing my spirit down and I wouldn’t allow drugs around my (*then) 11 month old grandbabies or my own children. It was a heroin addiction of over 20 years. I saw too much horror and darkness,around him the people and situations were sick . If you could please just contact me . My name is Karen Rotolo. I’m 28 years old, and mother of two from New Orleans,La. I have seen your show a couple of times and it has touch my heart deeply. I lost my mother Diana in 2008 to suicide, but I tell everyone she died because of Hurricane Katrina. She lost her home in the Hurricane, her husband (my stepdad) left her for a younger women in Honduras, and she quite her job because of the stress. Her soul was so sad and she was ready to leave all this devastation behind. I have not been able to let her go and allow myself to move on. It has affected me tremendously. I am not the same person that I use to be…. I have many questions for her… I know her death was ruled a suicide, but there were alot of things that did not add up from the scene of where her death occurred. I have had so much loss in my life…I am a true believer that we don’t leave the ones we love
It has been very hard for me to go on with my love since loosing so many in such a short span of time. My mother died from depression due to the loss of her mom. My father died 13 days later and even the coroner said physically there was no reason for him to leave..he just really wanted to be with my mom…true love knows no bounds.
I would love to know how to make an appt with you. I could care less how long it takes…I just want to know if any of them would reach out to me. I dream of my grandmother so often that I know she is with me. I miss her more than anyone…
