Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

My name is Teresa and i have lost 5 people this year and 2 were super close. My grandma passed in Augest then in December i found my mom dead. i have alot of questions and whys. i realy realy would like to see what you can do and what you know. i think i need closure….please help

Hi Theresa, I know that you are a very busy lady these days, but I have been watching you since the very beginning, I think that you have a wonderful gift, and i was hoping to possibly make an appointment with you or to go to one of your shows. My problem is that i live in South Florida and live on a limited income, so if there is ever a time that you would be in our area of Fort Lauderdale, I would appreciate it if I could get tickets to see you. My mom passed away in 2001 and it seems that i cannot find closure in it, i keep thinking of her all the time that maybe i could have done something to help her more.
I also have a few other issues that need to addressed, but not as important as mom.

Hi Teresa, You have a great way of lifting peoples spirits and God really Blessed you not only with helping others but with a family thats so understanding of your gift and the time that you spend with others helping them over come there grief. Im really not trying to suck up to you so you will answer my email I really think you help alot of people and I would rather talk to you than a therapist you seem alot more down to earth. My Family has had alot happen in the past few years and I think you could shed some light on a few things. I don’t believe that I will ever have an answer to your insight, but it’s worth a try. Many deaths in my family since I was six. I live in the south, and heard a lot of superstions in my life. But what I need help with is murders. I have somewhat of experiences, like my mother told me that my cherokee grandmother did. And my Aunts. I don’t have the many to travel to where you are. I just need to know what happened to my best friend. How was she murdered. Did she suffer? I would like to know before I die.

And I really need your help please,last thanksgiving 2011,I got a phone call out of the blue,A women on the other end of phone says I have something to tell you I think we are related,mind you all these years thinking I have no family,Just my awesome son now. I was almost fainted. Dear Heart: I have so many special people that have gone to the next room. I live in Canada and I happened upon your show and I was wanting to talk to you about these very special people and to be able to ask for closure and peace for them on their journey home. I am an old soul and a guide for the living and I am backed up by very powerful elders who walk with me. I am 1/2 Cree and 1/2 Norwegian and I am 51. I have passed for a short while and the most peaceful experience moment was the quiet…I did not like the totally white rooms I walked through and then I heard my daughter calling me to wake up ,so I came back. I am a grandmother and I have people around me all the time in this world and I am aware of the spirits that walk around me also.

Hi. – I am struggling and need direction but need it quickly! I know that there are others out there that need your help too….my husband and I have struggled with infertility and spent so much money with no baby as a result. We finally paid off all of the debt that we incurred and are ready to adopt. Again this is about $40,000… we are not rich and both work very hard. I just need guidance so that we don’t get ripped off even more and still don’t have a baby. Any thing would be appreciated. Theresa, My best friend Jackie is always thinking,giving and caring for others while at the same time caring for a son who had a life threatening disease for 26 plus years. Last July he passed away. I apologize for such short notice but this April is her birthday and I can’t think of a better gift other then for my best friend to see you.

I sure wish I would run into you in a store somewhere, but I am across the country from you. For a few years before his death my father who was senile kept reaching for the phone in his nursing home. He kept saying he needed to talk to me and tell me something. He passed away going on three years ago, and didn’t know how to reach me then. I envy those people you approach in your town to give them a message. Keep up the good work. By the way, Theresa, the Greek word for messenger is translated as “angel”, so you are their angel when you give them a message.
