NEW! Is Alaskan Bush People Fake? Does It Matter?
Viewers of Discovery Channel’s Alaskan Bush People have been wondering if the four episodes of the Brown family’s adventures in the wilderness are all they’re going to get. The new show Siberian Cut takes over the Tuesday night time slot and no new episodes of Alaskan Bush People are currently scheduled.
[Update: A new episode of Alaskan Bush People, titled “The Wild Life,” premieres Sunday, June 15, at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. Based on the show’s description, it sounds like it might be a highlights/recap/additional unaired footage type of show: “After facing unparalleled obstacles, the Browns reflect on their past year of living in the Alaskan Bush while providing surprise revelations about the family’s lifestyle.”
Last seen, the Brown family suffered another setback as the boat they were using to scout a new home in southeast Alaska hit an object, took on water and sank at the dock. The family made it off the boat safely, but were left with an uncertain future.
They can’t possibly let the show end like that, can they?
Well, the news here is that there is no news. According to a Discovery Channel spokesman, the network has not announced whether or not Alaskan Bush People will be returning.
As for the Brown family, all nine of them were in Los Angeles in January for the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour and were on a panel to promote the show, which at the time was scheduled to air on Animal Planet. (So no, they didn’t starve or freeze or anything after their boat went down in Episode 4.) You can learn more about them and see some pretty interesting photos of the family at their official website. Also, do read this article by Zaz Hollander of Alaska Dispatch, who did some investigating into some of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the show that have been debated in these recaps.
At the panel, Billy Brown summed up the origin of his family’s Alaskan adventure as well as how the TV show came into existence:
“I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and my family died when I was 16, and I kind of hit the road. When Ami and I got together, we traveled all over the place, and we found that as we were going places, we never were really content where we were. We kept getting we’d go to the country, and it wasn’t really enough country. We kept getting deeper and deeper in, and then, when Alaska opened up to us, it was like a it was like a ready made home to us. And when we got up I have written children’s books for my kids and stuff and a book about my life, One Wave at a Time, and our guys went in when you go to the harbor shacks and stuff, we get Internet every once in a while, and our guys went in, Bam especially, and he put a website for the kids’ books. And through that, a guy got in touch with us, and we ended up here. And I am the one that didn’t want to come. …
This is, you know, not what we had planned. We spent 30 years of our lives trying to stay as far away from this kind of stuff as we could, and people. And we discussed it a lot, and I guess … it was Ami that really talked me into it more that we thought it would be cool if people could really see how we live because I don’t think you guys know people who really still live that way, because it’s not a movie. It’s us.”

Please bring it back. I looked forward to them every week. I have it recorded so I won’t miss anything.
that was and is my elderly mother’s favorite show and mine as well. I agree with the rest of the posts stating the browns show is clean entertainment for everyone. With poor heath, my mother doesn’t have many good days to look forward to but she does look forward to watching faithfully the Alaskan Bush People. Please have that show return to air. Thanks greatly!
This is a very special show. I can watch episodes over and over and enjoy them. It is a refreshing hour that takes away all my low feelings. They are a fresh approach to some pretty dull and depressing shows that are on tv now. Keep them coming.
What happened to the Alaskan Bush People, it was on and then nothing the past few weeks. My husband and I watched it faithfully. Please dont cancel!!!!
Please, leave the show on. I really enjoy it and look forward to the Brown’s next adventures. It is about family for a change and working together and hard times together and picking each other when it can’t get any harder. There is a life learning message here and I like it. Do us all a favor and bring the brown’s back and let’s see them really build Brown’s town.
alaskan bush people is the best show on TV its a good family show I m 60 yrs old and never missed an episode.what can we do to keep it on.
Please don’t cancel The Alaskan Bush People. My family and I look forward to their show every week. I find it interesting the way they live. My teenage kids love the show and can’t wait for it to come back on.
Even thinking of Bush People being cancelled is too much. I agree with others who complain about the filth and nudity on so many other shows. TV, in too many cases has become too disgusting to watch. Case in point that nudity show on Discover. If you have to cancel something cancel that bit of trash. Bring the Bush back. It is clean and entertaining. Maybe the powers that be like wallowing in filth. Do you?
MY FAMILY LOVES THE SHOW. YOU WILL MAKE A BIG MISTAKE BY TAKING THE SHOW OFF THE AIR.
I adore the Brown family, each and every one of them. When I watch the show I feel like I there and apart of the family.Ami and Billy have brought their kids up so good, they all are so protective of each other and everyone respects each other, its so nice to see.well, I just wanted you to know that I truely love you all and you are included in my prayers for safe keeping and for a good life. love, Margie
Oh by the way the alaskan bush people better not be cancelled ,dog gone it. no no no, you hear me, what a big mistake to cancel them.
… I feel for all the other folks who love this show. I personally am waiting for my invitation to come live in “Brown Town”. Until then I enjoy watching the Brown’s Actually enjoying a “happy life and not “being anxious” about what tomorrow will bring. Their values are true and their morals are valued by all the shows viewers. and Ami I know you and Billy really would like some grandchildren but looking in on your family (thank you for this invitation by the way) I personally feel the boys are happy being themselves and “providing” for the current “Brown Town” residents and feel that God will provide these things when the time is right! God Bless and be safe.
will there be another season? We want the bush people on each week. Thanks.
Its so true, something good comes on then it goes away, this show is just interesting, they work together, seem like good people living a life they have chosen, just interesting how they make it work
Alaskan Bush People was One of My Favorite Shows on T.V.. among a few others.
I hate the Naked and Afraid program that is on , I Can’t Believe you Folks would Put Something So Nasty and Disgusting on the Tube! Bad Taste!!
I never had to worry about Bad Language,Nudity, etc. Like So many others on the Air Waves.
I agree with some of the Other Comment, Why does it seem you always end up taking a show off the waves when it is more wholesome and in Good Taste?
Isn’t there enough “Garbage”already?
Let’s get our act together. I have got my whole family watching the Brown’s Alaskan life and they all love the show. It has values we need to restore to our country. Unlike so many other shows like stupid, naked, profane, violent and angry excuses for humanity, the Browns are a fresh air experience for all of us who enjoy what looks like real life. Whether or not it is matters not. I am voting for a continuance of the show!
I’m in agreement. The show was very entertaining without the cursing and nudity. Whether it’s fake or not. I’d much rather watch them as opposed to the Bachelor or Big Brother. Let’s Bach on track people.
amen we need some good clean show and this one is one of them
Every time something good comes on you take it off… put the alaskin bush people back on, I’m a loyal fan and I love the program!! What was the reason for canceling the show??
What would it take for the alaskin bush people to come on for another season and who’s choice was it to cancel the was it the net work or the family
Please don’t cancel this show. When will Season 4 return? We miss our Laughter.
I hope that the Alaskan Bush People will be back next season – I love the show – I don’t care if it is fake or not – there are sure a lot of other “fake” shows that could use the ax…
Your right about that
I enjoyed the Bush Family. It was fun filled and enjoyable from other reality shows with all the junk. They are a wholesome family with values. It was interesting to see the different problems and sucesses they were
subjected to. So, what if they lived early lives different. We all come from different lives, but now they are living the life they’d always wanted. I give them thumbs up. Besides they show true family values that have all but went by the wayside. I like seeing a true family with all the trial and errors and sucesses. The other reality shows with all the junk are worse. My family watched it and now a days if it brings the family together it means something. Please, bring back the Bush Family. I loved the show.
Mee tooo!!
CN YOU TELL ME IF THERE WITH BE A 2016 SEASON?
Please bring back the Alaskan Bush People. It’s a very holsom family show. There isn’t alot on TV that’s decent anymore. Like family shows where everybody can sit together to watch. Love to watch the children growing up and finding life out for themselves. A family that all still lives together and works together. That’s just something that’s an example to others.
Like this and I too hope it continues
Oh wow my family loves to watch this show we so look forward to the weekend as we set it to record so we can all watch together. We live simple lives and there are simularities in lifestyles we just love modern convinces to much. Anyway please don’t take this show off .its clean real ,and a way of life some don’t even know is out there.
