NEW! Is Alaskan Bush People Fake? Does It Matter?
Viewers of Discovery Channel’s Alaskan Bush People have been wondering if the four episodes of the Brown family’s adventures in the wilderness are all they’re going to get. The new show Siberian Cut takes over the Tuesday night time slot and no new episodes of Alaskan Bush People are currently scheduled.
[Update: A new episode of Alaskan Bush People, titled “The Wild Life,” premieres Sunday, June 15, at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. Based on the show’s description, it sounds like it might be a highlights/recap/additional unaired footage type of show: “After facing unparalleled obstacles, the Browns reflect on their past year of living in the Alaskan Bush while providing surprise revelations about the family’s lifestyle.”
Last seen, the Brown family suffered another setback as the boat they were using to scout a new home in southeast Alaska hit an object, took on water and sank at the dock. The family made it off the boat safely, but were left with an uncertain future.
They can’t possibly let the show end like that, can they?
Well, the news here is that there is no news. According to a Discovery Channel spokesman, the network has not announced whether or not Alaskan Bush People will be returning.
As for the Brown family, all nine of them were in Los Angeles in January for the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour and were on a panel to promote the show, which at the time was scheduled to air on Animal Planet. (So no, they didn’t starve or freeze or anything after their boat went down in Episode 4.) You can learn more about them and see some pretty interesting photos of the family at their official website. Also, do read this article by Zaz Hollander of Alaska Dispatch, who did some investigating into some of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the show that have been debated in these recaps.
At the panel, Billy Brown summed up the origin of his family’s Alaskan adventure as well as how the TV show came into existence:
“I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and my family died when I was 16, and I kind of hit the road. When Ami and I got together, we traveled all over the place, and we found that as we were going places, we never were really content where we were. We kept getting we’d go to the country, and it wasn’t really enough country. We kept getting deeper and deeper in, and then, when Alaska opened up to us, it was like a it was like a ready made home to us. And when we got up I have written children’s books for my kids and stuff and a book about my life, One Wave at a Time, and our guys went in when you go to the harbor shacks and stuff, we get Internet every once in a while, and our guys went in, Bam especially, and he put a website for the kids’ books. And through that, a guy got in touch with us, and we ended up here. And I am the one that didn’t want to come. …
This is, you know, not what we had planned. We spent 30 years of our lives trying to stay as far away from this kind of stuff as we could, and people. And we discussed it a lot, and I guess … it was Ami that really talked me into it more that we thought it would be cool if people could really see how we live because I don’t think you guys know people who really still live that way, because it’s not a movie. It’s us.”

My husband and I love this show, it is our favorite. I hope it returns. 🙁
While a lot of people love shooting them up and filthy lanuage and blood and gore SHOWS ,some of us don’t. Even though the Bush People may not be real, we love them. They’re noble, caring and honestly love each other. There adventures take you away as your concern for there safety arouses. Perhaps drug induced people need all that stimulation while in there drug induced state. But there are still some people that can handle life without be surged. Please bring back this program for the handful of us. Perhaps because of all the altered mood population is what the Brown is trying to stay awake from. WE WISH WE COULD JOIN THEM AS FAR AS THAT ‘S CONCERNED.
I don’t believe any of the Browns know how to live in the wilds of Alaska. They are very d implementation people and don’t know there ass from a hole in the ground.
HELP! IM HAVING WITHDRAWALS. PLEASE GIVE US BACK BUSH PEOPLE. TOP OF MY LIST FOR FAVORITE SHOW.
WHEN WILL THE BROWNS BE BACK IN A NEW SEASON?? I’M LIKE THE OTHER POSTS HERE – SEARCHING & SEARCHING FOR NEW SHOWS TO NO AVAIL!!! I’VE WATCHED SOME EPISODES AT LEAST 8 TIMES!! I CAN EVEN QUOTE ALONG WITH THE DIALOGUE. THIS IS MY VERY FAVORITE TV SHOW…. & I’M DYING FOR A NEW SEASON OF THE BROWN FAMILY. I LOVE THEM ALL!!!
please do not cancel this show
I have enjoyed it so much I even watch the reruns over and over
these people are very entertaining
Please bring back the Brown family, I enjoyed that show and the family. It shows what Family is all about!
this is a great show, I got hooked real quick. Can’t wait till it comes back on.
Please bring back the brown and play make all the seasons available on DVD, truly love this show and I don’t watch TV shows very much, please send e-mail or post somewhere when you will be starting the new season,so want to see what happens next with the Browns.
Are you going to being back the Brown Family or NOT??
I doubt usually watch reality shows but this was real stuff. Did they move to another channel?
Ouida get a dictionary!! You obviously have never used spell-check!!
I personally want to know how real. Becuase for a small portion of my teen years I lived off the grid , only on purpose
And not part of it out of need, crinimal stuff was going on at home.
People do this for many reasons , mine was because I was in danger and my mother and l were the only one that lived knowing thought out my life . Either the rest of my family was blind to it, or just don’t want remember becuase it wasnas bad as asteven king movie , for very real. There are things going on in families that most people don’t believe in,. I have never seen Billy lose it like my father did . I would really like to know if this show is real, becuase I feel that I would be safer , even if the bears areb there than I am there , and I am in my late 50s now . So please discovery channel , get back to me , I want to be safe the of my life , I think with the browm family I would be safe there , but only if the browns wouldnt mind a grandmother as part of the mix living on the island . I raised my children mostly! By my self , but there were times that got really bad, and my sister helped my head above water level . Im the only one in my family that was different so it was very difficult growing. But I did so I want the rest of my life to be less difficult .
Learha
Omg, What happened to the Brown family, I have looked for reruns or anything that has to do with them, Nothing at all. Not even DVD’s. I don’t understand, Finally a show that your whole family can enjoy together. When are you bringing it back. And what about DVD’s .
I don’t watch T.V. because everything is so brutal …it’s either sex, drugs, alchol, drama, killing, gore, fighting …..
It’s about time something people can watch without all the above ..I wouldn’t want my family watching anything on the television …now we get something I enjoy. Thank you for bringing to us ….I will continue to watch as long as there is shows such as this one.
Please bring the Brown Family back. It is a good clean show and we need more shows like that.
Bring the family back on TV I love the show an so does my mom she is93an we wach it together we can not go munch because of her Heath
Ouida get a dictionary! You obviously don’t know about spell-check!!
Love this family. Really hope it comes back and really hope that the kids will find girlfriends/boyfriends and get married.
Sorry they are having legal problems and hope they get cleared up quickly.
Who cares about these seemingly minor legal issues? It doesn’t sound CRIMINAL. Who hasn’t had problems that could be discovered and built up to be bigger then it should be? So, they weren’t in the wild 365 days out of the year? They needed a break. They STILL love best their freedom life style. They are not criminals. I love the show. It is more true than the wives of wherever!!!! Now THOSE are the fraudulent ones in my opinion. Go search THEIR hidden secrets!!!!
I LOVE THE SHOW. I’VE SEEN THE SAME SHOWS OVER AND OVER AGAIN SO I CAN HARDLY WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT SEASON STARTS.
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE SHOW EXCEPT THAT IRKSOME WOLF HOWL THAT YOUNG MAN DOES. THAT’S JUVENILE IF YOU ASK ME!!!
Please bring back Bush family. My family has watched all episodes over and over. Who cares if it might be fake. It is clean tv for Christian family entertainment.
Don’t worry folks as soon as The Browns get out of the 60 charges of felony Permanent Fund Dividend fraud in the State of Alaska they will probably make more shows. When is their court date? September?
