NEW! Is Alaskan Bush People Fake? Does It Matter?
Viewers of Discovery Channel’s Alaskan Bush People have been wondering if the four episodes of the Brown family’s adventures in the wilderness are all they’re going to get. The new show Siberian Cut takes over the Tuesday night time slot and no new episodes of Alaskan Bush People are currently scheduled.
[Update: A new episode of Alaskan Bush People, titled “The Wild Life,” premieres Sunday, June 15, at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. Based on the show’s description, it sounds like it might be a highlights/recap/additional unaired footage type of show: “After facing unparalleled obstacles, the Browns reflect on their past year of living in the Alaskan Bush while providing surprise revelations about the family’s lifestyle.”
Last seen, the Brown family suffered another setback as the boat they were using to scout a new home in southeast Alaska hit an object, took on water and sank at the dock. The family made it off the boat safely, but were left with an uncertain future.
They can’t possibly let the show end like that, can they?
Well, the news here is that there is no news. According to a Discovery Channel spokesman, the network has not announced whether or not Alaskan Bush People will be returning.
As for the Brown family, all nine of them were in Los Angeles in January for the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour and were on a panel to promote the show, which at the time was scheduled to air on Animal Planet. (So no, they didn’t starve or freeze or anything after their boat went down in Episode 4.) You can learn more about them and see some pretty interesting photos of the family at their official website. Also, do read this article by Zaz Hollander of Alaska Dispatch, who did some investigating into some of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the show that have been debated in these recaps.
At the panel, Billy Brown summed up the origin of his family’s Alaskan adventure as well as how the TV show came into existence:
“I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and my family died when I was 16, and I kind of hit the road. When Ami and I got together, we traveled all over the place, and we found that as we were going places, we never were really content where we were. We kept getting we’d go to the country, and it wasn’t really enough country. We kept getting deeper and deeper in, and then, when Alaska opened up to us, it was like a it was like a ready made home to us. And when we got up I have written children’s books for my kids and stuff and a book about my life, One Wave at a Time, and our guys went in when you go to the harbor shacks and stuff, we get Internet every once in a while, and our guys went in, Bam especially, and he put a website for the kids’ books. And through that, a guy got in touch with us, and we ended up here. And I am the one that didn’t want to come. …
This is, you know, not what we had planned. We spent 30 years of our lives trying to stay as far away from this kind of stuff as we could, and people. And we discussed it a lot, and I guess … it was Ami that really talked me into it more that we thought it would be cool if people could really see how we live because I don’t think you guys know people who really still live that way, because it’s not a movie. It’s us.”

This is my favorite show, and I’m so disappointed if it’s not brought back..Come on Discovery Channel. You put on a good show, and do this
Jen
PLEASE, bring back ABP!
Not all of us live in a world that consider the kardashian’s or spoiled housewife drama, entertaining.
In fact, some of us dream of life like that!
Please!
I was totally looking forward to watching ABP last night…When I found out the show was canceled, I was so disappointed. Discovery Channel, why would you cancel the show after the fourth episode? You’re leaving the audience hanging. What happened to the family after their boat sank?…Please bring the show back
loved alaskan bush people from the first moment, completely fascinated with them all and was so dissapointed when i rushed to watch it and it had been replaced. Hate the new show its boring to me please bring them back
I’m a fan of this show I gotta know what happened next… Wouldn’t that be crazy if they had to move to a town with like people?? That would be a show for sure
I really like this show. I hope that you put this show again, and bring this unusual family to our living room, so we can see how other people live fake or not.
My husband and I looked forward to watching ABP,Whether it’s fake or not,we really enjoyed the show.please don’t leave us hanging, and don’t cancel the show! I watched the show you put on in replace of ABP, I’m not interested at all. Guess it’s time to flip the channels again…
Are you all nuts being fans of this ridiculous show? It sank faster than that old water logged boat! Starting to building a house in AK in the Fall???? Then all of a sudden in the next scene its -40F and snow covered while hunting caribou???? Are you kidding me? And it all happened in a subdivision with mail boxes at the end of the driveway. This is the worst AK Show yet. I’m so worried what the fans of this show really do think of AK lifestyles. Clueless!
Bull……..
They are without a doubt making more of these. The show was not taken of the air – it just seems like everyone was surprised by how many people watched and they only made a few to start. I would say many more of these will be out soon.
I hope you will continue with the story of the Brown Family as I was fascinated by it. I am a 65 year old ex-schoolteacher (woman). I found the earnest-y of this family so refreshing. Good for You!, Brown Family. I hope you continue with this program. I also watched “Siberian Cut” and really liked that. I hope Discovery continues these programs. The locations are like nothing I have ever seen. Dorie,
MY WIFE & I ARE A RETIRED COUPLE LIVING IN FLORIDA. WE HAVE RECENTLY ENJOYED A NUMBER OF THE REALITY PROGRAMS OF ALASKA. AFTER CHECKING THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL FOR A NEW EPISODE OF ABP, I HAD AN EPIPHANY MOMENT TO CHECK FOR A POSSIBLE WEBSITE RE: ABP….OMG AS TO WHAT’S ON THIS SITE! I SUPPOSE YOU COULD SAY WE GOT SUCKED IN WITH THE DRAMA OF THIS “WALTONESQUE” STORYLINE; HOWEVER THE WALTON GENRE IS NOT ALL BAD. IT PROVIDES SOMETHING OUR SOCIETY OF TODAY IS WOEFULLY MISSING…GOOD HONEST ‘BACK IN THE DAY’ FAMILY VALUES & ENTERTAINMENT. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT BROUGHT THIS FINE PROGRAM TO SUCH AN ABRUPT ENDING, AND WISH THE BROWN FAMILY THE BEST OF LUCK FOR THEIR FUTURE AND ABUNDANT FAITH IN GOD.
Really?? After 4 shows, and it stops. This is silly.
That poor ten year old girl was about two episodes away from either being snactched by some Alaska state agency or worse, abused by one of her kid brothers…….. I’d say she made it out of those woods in just the nick of time !
Your crazy that girl is safer with her brothers than a full army platoon.
I like long walks on the beach.
Are you writing to one of the dad’s sons, cause two – maybe three of them just might take you up on that offer Ramon, a spinoff reality show just waiting to happen.
Damn this sucks. I was totally looking forward watching ABF tonight. Now I found out cancelled after just 4 shows? Don’t leave us hanging Discovery. Bring it back!
What the hell is the descovery doing. why are they taking Alaskan bush people off tv. what happen to the Brown family??
I cannot believe so many people fell for this family’s phony escapade. Do a few searches and see what a con artist Mr. Brown has become. His family was NOT raised in the bush, His cabin was NOT built in the bush, The Govt. did NOT burn his cabin down. He’s a snake oil salesman. and too many people were quick to fall for his Walton’esque charade.
please bring back the brown family. I watch nothing but discovery channel on Tuesday. deadliest catch then the browns. the show you put on to replace them just sucks and I will not be tuning in on that one. we have ax men that’s enough. please reconsider you all have the best programs so keep it that way .
Out of all these Alaskan shows I took interest in ABP, the first four episodes were great an to end it especially after the sinking of their boat is crazy. Why is Discovery creating so many different shows and then dumping them a couple shows later. Biker live sucks, this new logging show looks like the other 4.
I have seen every episode since day 1! Then their boat shockingly sinks and that’s it!!? Not interested in the show that has take ABP’s place….. sad.
