NEW! Is Alaskan Bush People Fake? Does It Matter?
Viewers of Discovery Channel’s Alaskan Bush People have been wondering if the four episodes of the Brown family’s adventures in the wilderness are all they’re going to get. The new show Siberian Cut takes over the Tuesday night time slot and no new episodes of Alaskan Bush People are currently scheduled.
[Update: A new episode of Alaskan Bush People, titled “The Wild Life,” premieres Sunday, June 15, at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. Based on the show’s description, it sounds like it might be a highlights/recap/additional unaired footage type of show: “After facing unparalleled obstacles, the Browns reflect on their past year of living in the Alaskan Bush while providing surprise revelations about the family’s lifestyle.”
Last seen, the Brown family suffered another setback as the boat they were using to scout a new home in southeast Alaska hit an object, took on water and sank at the dock. The family made it off the boat safely, but were left with an uncertain future.
They can’t possibly let the show end like that, can they?
Well, the news here is that there is no news. According to a Discovery Channel spokesman, the network has not announced whether or not Alaskan Bush People will be returning.
As for the Brown family, all nine of them were in Los Angeles in January for the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour and were on a panel to promote the show, which at the time was scheduled to air on Animal Planet. (So no, they didn’t starve or freeze or anything after their boat went down in Episode 4.) You can learn more about them and see some pretty interesting photos of the family at their official website. Also, do read this article by Zaz Hollander of Alaska Dispatch, who did some investigating into some of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the show that have been debated in these recaps.
At the panel, Billy Brown summed up the origin of his family’s Alaskan adventure as well as how the TV show came into existence:
“I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and my family died when I was 16, and I kind of hit the road. When Ami and I got together, we traveled all over the place, and we found that as we were going places, we never were really content where we were. We kept getting we’d go to the country, and it wasn’t really enough country. We kept getting deeper and deeper in, and then, when Alaska opened up to us, it was like a it was like a ready made home to us. And when we got up I have written children’s books for my kids and stuff and a book about my life, One Wave at a Time, and our guys went in when you go to the harbor shacks and stuff, we get Internet every once in a while, and our guys went in, Bam especially, and he put a website for the kids’ books. And through that, a guy got in touch with us, and we ended up here. And I am the one that didn’t want to come. …
This is, you know, not what we had planned. We spent 30 years of our lives trying to stay as far away from this kind of stuff as we could, and people. And we discussed it a lot, and I guess … it was Ami that really talked me into it more that we thought it would be cool if people could really see how we live because I don’t think you guys know people who really still live that way, because it’s not a movie. It’s us.”

My family and I just recently started watching their show. Why is it that a
When we really like a T.V. Program…we look so forward to it the producers take it off.
i don’t know if the show is for real or not but its a good show to see how others live or could live. It’s for those that don’t want to tell there store without been exposed so maybe this is there story and the story of people that live the way they want to live. I think someone needs to tell that story why not the browns and the discover folks can help with that story.
Our entire family enjoyed watching and will continue to watch if there are more episodes. Surely your network can help them get set up and film them. With the money they will bring the network it is a win win!!
Bring them back… Even our friends love the show as well.
At first i had no interest in the show at all, but after watching just one episode i couldn’t stop watching it! All of the children are extremely intelligent and the boys sure are built! They are hard workers and I love the way they talk! This show is so interesting and I would be extremely upset if the show was cancelled, it’s all that I watch. Please don’t cancel the show, a lot of people will be upset and Discovery will lose a lot of viewers. I love the Alaskan Bush People!
ANOTHER TV STATION SHOULD PICK UP THE ALASKAN BUSH PEOPLE , IT’S THE ONLY GOOD SHOW ON TV THESE DAYS . DON’T LET ANOTHER GOOD FAMILY SHOW BE PUT IN THE DUMPSTER.
Hope they don’t leave us in suspense now.. I was on the edge on my seat watching this show. Just when I got into it & looking for it each week kind of a let down what happened? I still am wondering why they left the cabin behind and did not confront or get police involved with that gunshot deal??
I loved watching this, put them back on,What a nice family. Where are they now? Great show.
I love the show ,we need to get In touch with The Discovery channel. Its a show worth watching. No foul language so far,and no violence on their part.
Real or not – it is immaterial. What is important is that it was and still should be an enjoyable show to allow those of us that live in the fast paced world of day to day life in a big city to relax and escape into a different reality for a short period of time. I looked forward to watching more episodes. I for one am very tired of the networks constantly starting and stopping shows abruptly. Cancelling after four episodes does not give enough time to build a following.
Lets boycott Discovery
It’s a shame, real or not the finally get a show on TV that isn’t full of NUDITY or CURSING and it makes 4 episodes, shame on you Discovery Channel. Bring it back please.
I’m sad they are not real. They have a website, publush books. The cabin wasn’t remote and alone…they had neighbors close by.
I enjoyed the show before I read more about them. I feel deceived.
I refused to watch the show. I investigated the family prior to the show starting, they are wealthy, the father & sons are commercial fisherman. Yes they lived on stolen government land they did not want to leave that’s why the government forced them out. Discovery channel bought the 5 acre plot ‘in the bush’ that was also a lie, everything about this family is one big lie.
If everyone would simply read their truths at their own website. This whole farce was about promoting their book of which they are getting ready to make into a four part miniseries about their life. They own a beautiful home in Alaska they own their own boat they are not poor they are not hungry they are not going without it is all show, they are nothing better than the Kardashian family except they are selling their sons and not daughters
This family faced more obstacles in 4 hours than most of us face in a lifetime. Legal issues, elements, no $$, no food & shelter, trouble with local inhabitants, guns, lost home, boat sunk, etc. I was looking forward to the future episodes.. I hope they return.
The discovery channel bought the 5 acre plot for them to film this fake reality program the neighbors across the street from the plot said the family left the place a disaster & mess, again people need to realize this is all a farce. They are simply promoting their future book about their life no one is after them it was all a show. The only thing that they do not picture is the true size of their home they have a beautiful home in Alaska there just another family greedy for more money. I think this entire thing is shameful they have so many people believing that their so-called plight is true I only wish I had a third of their money
Where oh where has my little bush family gone, where oh where can they be?????
I loved this show!!!
I loved this show!!!
That was a good show. Discovery needs to get there head out of there asses and figure out what they want to do.
I cant believe they just start this show then yank it off and dont tell the public nothing! That’s really tacky.
Agreed
Bring them back!!!
I real liked this about the Alaska bush. People. Why aren’t they on anymore?
Yeah what the hell! That was a awesome show. You better bring em back…
