E! statement on the passing of Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers passed away today at the age of 81, after suffering complications from vocal cord surgery on Aug. 28. Famous for her snark (directed at others and at herself), she was a comedy pioneer (well-known for her “Can we talk?” catchphrase), and was the first, and still the only, woman to host her own late-night talk show (The Late Show in 1986; she was banned by Johnny Carson from The Tonight Show after going out on her own without his knowledge, following her longtime guest-hosting of Carson’s program.) 2014 Copa Centroamericana TV schedule

The biennial Copa Centroamericana (Central American Nations Cup) started Sept. 3, and continues through Sept. 13. The tournament, organized by UNCAF (Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol / Central American Football Union) is the region’s premier championship for national teams, and a qualifying competition for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. This year’s winner will also qualify for the 2016 Centennial Copa America. The 2014 Copa Centroamericana marks the first time in its 23-year history that the tourney has been played entirely in the United States. On Sept. 1 and 2, History will debut a two-night scripted miniseries called Houdini, chronicling the life of famed escape artist Harry Houdini (born Ehrich Weiss). Long-running game show The Price Is Right recently began its first-ever nationwide search for a male model on Aug. 16, in Spartanburg, S.C.
