Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

As I sit here like so many other mornings, I think of my son whom I lost almost 8 years ago. When I got to the emergency room, the doctor told me he had about 20 minutes to live. I didn’t get to see him before he passed and the guilt I feel is so unbearable. I feel I should have been with him. I just want to know if he is okay and forgives me. Thank you Theresa for all you do. You have replaced tear’s with smile’s.
Dear Teresa my aunt and grandfather passed away with two years of each other. I had a hard time with both deaths and sometimes I still cry. I miss them both very much.
Theresa, I lost my beautiful daughter Inez three years ago. I promised Inez I would care for her three beautiful babies like I had done while she was alive. We were all so very close. Inez husband moved his girlfriend into Inez home three mob=nths after she passed away and is not allowing my hisband and I to see my grandchildren. The children are suffering and so are we. I feel as if I have let my daughter down . I am in so much pain. I will never wish to disappoint my children and grandchildren.Please let me know what Inez thinks I should do. I feel so lost and hurt.

My husband Pat passed away 16 years ago before I gave birth to our son. After Patrick was born I was having a hard time moving on. He actually would tell me how proud he was of him and eventually then he told me to move on with my life. There was a man that I met and fell in love with and he told me it was time to be with him. I am now in a separation and I am very upset because why did he tell me to move on when he knew this was going to happen. I know longer get any messages and I do not know what to do. I am very torn and hurt. Can you please advise how do I get in contact with my deceased husband again and or why this is happening and what should I do?

Theresa: I had a terribly harsh relationship with my mother. She was a narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) and openly wished I would pass before she did. I did what I could to make peace with her, but at the end of her life, she was actively attempting to destroy me and my family, including her grandson. Her death, 6 + months ago, has left me relieved, but unneerved. I do not feel she is at rest. Do you ever receive messages from your spiritual guides about spirits who do not learn life’s lessons and who continue to be hurtful after their life on this earth? I am curious, both as a spiritual person and a clincian. If your practice is anything like mine, I can’t take new patients for the next many months. But if you have a bit of time to answer, great.
