Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi Theresa, I am writing for my sister-in-law who has no idea I am writing. My sister-in-law Robin is a very strong woman who has suffered the great tragedy of losing not one child but 2. Her son, Christopher was shot and died in the street in a robbery for $2.00 in his pocket in July 2005. If that wasn’t hard enough to deal with her daughter Dawn Wilson in July of 2008 hit a tree and died. In November 2008 her husband, my brother Steve who was a Vietnam vet found out he had cancer and died within a month. Robin’s faith through all of this is nothing less then remarkable. She is doing ok today and is part of Katy Texas Compassionate Friends helping other parents who have lost children. I don’t know if it is possible but I would love for Robin to get a love message from her children. I am hoping you can do something.

I just heard about you and your gift. I see you are very busy but is there a way to make an appointment with you? Last year, my dad passed over on March 20, 2011. I tried talking with my dad and he tried to talk to me as in laid in the hospital bed. I could not understand what he was saying. I tried having him write it but he was so weak. Hi, I have been watching your show and would hope I would never need you. We do. We are a large very close family that has been devasted and sickened by the loss of my young nephew by murder. My poor, beautiful sister is so worried with the normal questions is he okay, is he safe, is he sad,is he with the lord. You know the normal questions any grieving family would have. Please help us. oh please i am just devasted, my beloved husband just recently passed away very suddenly and very unexpectedly. He was a very good caring kind hearted person, husband and Dad. And very much respected, there were over 500 people at his memorial service. I am so lost without him as are our children. I miss everything about him, he had a beautiful smile, and heart. And I am having such a hard time without him. He was literally an answer from God to my many prayers 33 years ago. To me he was my angel. I love him so, I always will. I don’t know what i will ever do without him. I know you are a very busy person, you help alot of people, if you perchance read this, maybe you will feel my husbands spirit, and you will see the reason why he is so very missed and loved. God Bless you for all the beautiful loving things you give to people like myself who suddenly find themselves in a strange hopless broken hearted place. You give them peace, comfort and even hope. I am a mom, who lost her son, Anthony James – 34 yrs, last April 21st, 2011.
He had a very difficult life – fighting drugs and alcohol.
He had accidental overdose in my home. I found him, gave him CPR and he went on life support for 5 days.
I feel as though I could have done more, yet I spent 20 years chasing him, fixing him and unconditionally loving him.
I miss my best friend so profoundly.

My father and I had a bad falling out before he died, 22 years ago, and he never contacted me until a few months ago. When he called out to me, it was at work, and would have been embarrassing for me to talk then and there, so I told him that if my mother was not with him, to go away. My mother has been gone for 7 years, and has not bothered to contact me. Could this mean that they are not together? They had a falling out a little over 40 years ago, but never divorced. what does this mean? Will my mom ever contact me? Is she all right?

My father passed December 2011 from brain cancer and he was only 58. He left his wife(my mother) and both my sister and I. We are having a hard time with all of this and would love to get in touch with him. He was truly the best father anyone could have and we all were not ready for him to leave us including my father. Please contact me when you have appointments available.I have signed up through your website and through Crossroads, but I am not sure if I was actually put on a waiting list for an appointment. I really need to sign up on a waiting list so I can one day meet with you.
