Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

My name is jessika i love your show! You make me believe that our loved ones go to a good and peaceful place. I know you dont have time to get to all of these posts. But my father inlaw passed away on Aug. 4, 2011, it was a very hard passing for our family. He was the rock of our family. Also exactly a month before that we lost my boyfriends grandpa on July 4, 2011. Both were unexpected. We just want to know if they are ok and not sowe not hurting anymore. So please if you could contact us or give us some advice please let me know. Also thank you for showing us and giving us hope that there actually is a great place that they can go .

My mother is and grandmother watch your show all the time and my mom actually got me watching you. You are truly an amazing and remarkable women with a great gift. My mother and grandmother are both very important women to me and I just wanted to do something for them. We live in Wisconsin, but I wanted to see how I could make an appointment to either come see you or vise versa. The cost and available times. I seen that you were pretty booked for 2 years but i dont care, as long as I get my grandma to meet you in her lifetime. She has been heartbroken for years about loosing her 7 year old daughter from a serious illness, it has been many many many years ago and my grandma still cries everyday. Hi Theresa, I first want to say how very impressed I am with your show and how you are using your gift to help others. All I can say is, Wow! As with everyone else, I know you are busy. My situation is different and I don’t know if you would even be able to help but you seem to be the type of person who is open to questions. I am haunted (for lack of better word) by the number 11-11 or even 111 on a daily basis. I saw the preview to your show last night and hoped I’d get closure. To my knowledge this does not involve anyone who has passed as I’ve seen this number for years. No exaggeration. Hi! My sister and I watch your show faithfully; there’s not too many weeks shows that goes by that tears are not running down my face. The tears are more for me wanting to know about my loved one.
May God bless you for the peace you bring to people. I’m sure you have loved ones that have passed, so you know how it feels to be left to wonder if they are ok, what they passed from, that they know that you loved them, etc. It’s simply heart wrentching to say the least!

Dear Theresa, My Dad passed away on August 27,2011. I’m adopted from birth.I was a daddy’s girl most of my life.The only thing I’ve ever wanted was the car I was brought home in. All those years ago.The car was in my fathers name only. My Mom and Dad were married over 55 years when he passed. He died of alshimers.He knew 8 years before the onset started. If he wanted me to have the car that was so dear to him and I.There was lots of time to change the car over to me.Instead the car was sold to a women who will never know what it meant to the 51year who’s loved the car all her life. WHY would he keep the car all those years to hurt me? Why did my Dad hate me? I know he hated me
