What happened to SPEED channel? On Aug. 17, SPEED becomes FOX Sports 1 on all major pay-TV providers. Many of the auto racing events previously airing on SPEED will now air on FS1.
On Saturday, Aug. 17, at 8am ET, SPEED will become FOX Sports 1, a new national sports network featuring live college football, auto racing, UFC, soccer, news shows and more. In most cases, the FOX Sports 1 channel will be the same channel formerly held by SPEED. Many of the auto racing events previously airing on SPEED will still air on FS1, including the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, practice and qualifying, and complementary programming like NASCAR Live. Select NASCAR Sprint Cup races will come to FS1 beginning in 2015.

The loss of Speed Channel just shows how stupid FOX really is. If I wanted to watch more sports and stupid commentators, I would watch a sports channel. If they have any brains, they will bring back SPEED.

This is another Fox [is full of it] programing. Now where will I see my motogp and Supercross races? 60% OF THE NEW FS1 HOSTS AND BROADCASTERS ARE PEOPLE WHO ACT JUVENILE! Cars and horsepower are a large part of the American pysche’. This is definately a rip-off, we now have more soccer channels for accomodating foreigners, than we did car programing Thus no more Barett-jackson, ”Pimp My Ride” or ”Foose” JUST NEW CRAPPY PROGRAMING from the people who lied at every turn during the presidential race.

If I wanted to watch balls kicked around I would watch it on an existing channel. What are you thinking? This was a great AUTOMOTIVE Channel. Personally I think this is stupid. There are more than enough ball channels now, too many in fact. I thought FOX had more brains than this. Guess I was wrong.

Bad move FOX. Even when watching any other kind of sports I will make it a point NOT to be watching them on FOX! Absolutely infuriates me to lose the automotive based programs that I used to watch weekly. I guess Velocity Ch. will get a lot more of my business.

Many of us that watched SPEED channel are “car” guys and gals. We appreciated the racing, car building, car show, quirky car and truck events, and also the live auction coverage. I enjoy other major sports to some extent, but they are covered well on other networks. We do not need yet another channel filled with stats and other banter that many of us gearheads could care less about. Just another way to try to further demonize the “CAR” culture. Sad times for America.

Well I feel like others, I am a sports fan I watch Football & Basketball but I am a dedicated motorsports fan and car enthusiast and Drag racer for over 40yrs. A former Pinks All Out participant I enjoyed My Classic Car, Pass Time, F1, Indy car racing and other shows that are directed to car guys like myself. If Fox wants this channel to elevate itself then include these previous shows and you will satisfy and keep the Motorsports fan happy. I know I would like to see that.
